Reception venues on the Strip

Hi All,

New to the forum as we just got recently engaged. Now, the wedding planning madness begins :) We're thinking of getting married out in Vegas (coming from Los Angeles) and were wanting to get people's experiences of having receptions at any of the hotels on the strip. We're looking to have around 150-170 people  and have looked at a few banquet rooms at MGM, Caesars, Mandalay Bay and Bellagio. MGM is the leader right now (Vista ballroom with the view) out of all the venues we visited but we're also considering Monte Carlo, Luxor, Planet Hollywood and Paris. Any insights are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jesse

Re: Reception venues on the Strip

  • Congratulations and welcome!

We are planning ours at Mirage, so I'm afraid I'm not much help with the ones you've listed above.  So far we've been happy with the planning process, the coordinator gets back to us quickly and has been really helpful.

One thing that appealed to us about Mirage is they pretty much have everything in house, we didn't want to do a bunch of planning and working with various vendors.  I think most MGM/Mirage properties are going to be similar in that aspect.  From other posts it sounds like the Caesars group hotels let you pay a fee to bring in outside vendors.  So it really just depends on what you are looking for.

    Good luck planning!

  • Welcome to the board Jesse.  Do you have a rough idea of the budget you're trying to stick to for the 150-170 guests?  Would you consider being married NOT in a chapel?

Check my site out for some ideas to get started; it's linked in my signature.

  • @Vegasgroom - thanks for the link!. As far as the ceremony goes, we're trying to do something outdoor definitely (waterfalls, garden area, elegant but fun) and not a chapel. As far as reception goes, we have an idea of what our budget is for what we're looking for (buffet style, an open bar of some sort for 5-6 hrs). Bellagio and Caesars are out of the picture due to budget. Would love the banquet hall to have some sort of view, which the MGM vista ballroom has, but it's not a dealbreaker.

@ktbabe53 Forgot to mention, we're also looking at the Mirage. Are you having your ceremony and location at the Mirage? We're trying to make our wedding destination hotel a one stop shop (ceremony, banquet, hotel stay for guests).

    Thanks!

  • Yes, we are doing our ceremony by the pool waterfall and reception in a ballroom and we got a room block.  It's totally a one stop shop!

I think you can do a ceremony by the dolphins and volcano as well.

The only thing I had to do outside the Mirage was hire a DJ, they did give me preferred vendors to choose from.

The ladies I've worked with have been really great so far.   If you want to PM your email address I can send you the info I got from them.
