Vendors tips

Hey ladies, getting married next month, just wondering what kind of tips I should consider giving my vendors, Im not from the States so not sure 10% or 20% or as I feel? Your help would be greatly appreciated and honestly without you all I couldnt have planned my wedding ;) xx

Re: Vendors tips

  •  I would say 15%- 20%.

  • I wouldn't feel obligated to tip everyone, I didn't feel it was necessary to tip my coordinator or officiant at Caesars for example. I felt they did what they are paid to do but no more. I only spoke to the officiant very briefly before the ceremony - for 2 mins and the ceremony was v short. 20% service ($60) was included at the hotel salon where I had hair and makeup and I didn't give anymore than this. 20% was also included at our reception venue.
  • Thanks spoon1984, yea I definitely feel some people deserve it more than others.
  • Yep definitely pay very close attention to any receipts you're handed asking for payment.  You'll find it completely random as to whether a particular vendor will add the tip on or not, so you don't want to tip twice.

A general rule of thumb is that you don't necessarily need to tip a vendor who is their own business; i.e. if someone runs their own business and is the one providing you with the service, well they don't really work on tips because it would make no sense to price your services at a rate below what you need to make a living.  It's of course still a nice gesture to tip if you feel service was extraordinary.  People who work for someone else tend to be the ones I am more likely to tip, especially restaurant staff since they are often paid a lower wage with the expectation of tip revenue covering the rest.
