Welcome Bags

Starting to think about welcome bags for our guests staying at the hotel. So far I'm thinking:
-bottle of water
-crackers
-mints
-recommendation for things in the area to do
-information about the shuttle to the venue

Anything else you would add? Where should we look to buy about 50 of each?

Also, if anyone is more familiar with activities near Rockaway/Mt. Arlington/Sparta/Ledgewood that would be appreciated. Thinking a good mix of outdoor/indoor activities for both young and old. I know there is a movie theater and bowling alley. Any good parks or museums in the area?

Thanks!

Re: Welcome Bags

  • I would add Rockaway Mall to the list for sure. White Castle--not available in many areas of the country and many like myself just crave it. I would also look for 24 hour stores in the area, like a CVS in case of emergency. Layfayetter Village isn't too far.

  • You can buy those things in bulk at Costco, BJs, even Dollar Tree and Big Lots. I've received welcome bags with advil/tylenol, antacids, alka seltzer, granola bars, chips, etc.

  • My OOT baskets have all the things you mentioned, plus:
    -antacids
    -advil
    -band-aids
    -travel sewing kit
    -small candies/popcord
-"fun facts" about NJ as well as pamphlets about local attractions that I took from a rest area
    -playing cards

We ordered a lot of the items from ebay and got really good deals.

This is what the finished product looks like (we wrapped it in red celophane to finish it up and keep everything together.) Also, we have sort of an Old Hollywood theme going on, in case you're wondering about the odd choice in container. Sorry for the HUGE picture, but it's all I have at the moment.
