Card sign?

I decided I wanted a bird cage for my card box and will put some yellow ribbon around it since that is my accent color.  Should I make a sign that says "cards" to hang (or put next to it), or do you think people will realize what is it? I feel like it's kind of rude to tell have one, but I 100% understand why people do and know people always bring cards to a wedding...

    Either that, or just have your WP and family spread the word the cards go in the birdcage.

    I'm going to just type up a cute little sign and frame it to sit next to my (nontraditional) card box. We're using my grandpa's old dynomite box as a cardbox (with some tweaking), so I figured that we'd need something to let the guests known what it was for.

    I will probably just make a sign... my WP will be with me doing pictures when everyone is getting to cocktail hour, so I should probably just get over it and make it easy for everyone :)

    I have a birdcage for cards as well and will definitely be making a sign for it.  Another option I've heard of is to put a few envelopes in it ahead of time to show people.

    That's cute!!! @kstan08.  My "card box" is a fun basket I picked up at Micheals for $10! I'm rigging it to prop open a bit so people can pop a card in there and will be making a cute little sign since it isn't a standard bird cage. This will also double as a decoration in our house after the wedding. You can never have too many baskets to hide junk in!

    Love it @kstan08! I actually bought a bird cage exactly like that from someone on the knot.. It ended up being too small but I LOVE the sign! Did you make it??

    I did! I just used PowerPoint cause it has all the fun shapes and is easy to change up the colors in.
