This just highlights what kind of stupidity FIL rolls around in.

FIL has a veritable arsenal of guns.  I bet he has no less than 10 guns just floating around his house.  Well, "floating" is just me being an asshole in my own right.  He has them locked up in a safe, but he hardly handles them and really just buys them because apparently retirement involves a money tree in his backyard. 

FIL had two guns that he field stripped but couldn't put back together.

1 was a glock that H basically just had to put the slide on and rack and then it was good.  WALLAH!

The other?  Oh that gun was something that FIL apparently dismantled beyond any recommendation and now has to send back to the manufacturer.  H called several places and gunsmiths included couldn't figure out why FIL would've removed certain parts.

    I'm ashamed to admit that DH has more than that.  He's like a closet redneck.  But he's actually really skilled w/ handling them and putting them back together at least.

    H only has guns that he'll shoot.  And if he finds something he wants more, often he'll sell or trade a gun in to get another one.  He doesn't see the point of keeping them around more than necessary. 

    FIL can hardly handle a gun without incident.  I could tell many stories, which I am sure I have.

    this is pretty much exactly what i think of people who have more guns than they have limbs. they can't keep up with the proper maintenance and handling, so they just go out all yosemite sam style shooting into the sky with a dirty gun that will jam, and then they'll go staring down the barrel, wondering what is wrong.

    LOL. I'll tell DH this. He actually takes all of them out on a rotating basis for inspections. They don't necessarily need to be shot regularly (according to him), and some shouldn't  be cleaned (like antiques), but I know nothing about guns so who knows. I have no idea how many we have in the house. It's way more than 10 though. DH actually wants a third gun safe. I'm pitching a story to TLC called "I Married a Closet Redneck".
