BUDGET on-site hair & airbrush makeup?

Hi Ladies,

I am looking for an on-site hair (updos) and airbrush makeup artist to come onsite in the Berkeley Heights/New Providence area.

My issue is my bridesmaids being a bit pushed back at the costs, so I am writing on here to inquire about freelancers that you know, not necessarily working professionals with their own company/salon they work with.

I am looking for the bridesmaids to be at $100 for updo + airbrush makeup (eyelashes too in case they are not included).

I personally saw no issues with the pricing I was given from many inquiries, but I don't want to create a burden w my girls between all of the other costs associated in being a bridesmaid.  I just really want us ALL together to get made up and get ready in the morning at the hotel.  So keeping that price low will have them say YES without anyone feeling awkward or embarrassed about it.

THANKS SO MUCH! Please list people you know along with a link to their work (Facebook page possibly) or message me an email address!!!

I contacted a lot of stylists and MUAs, and it's going to difficult to find hair and airbrush makeup for $100.  The cost for my BMs hair is $65 and make-up is $55/75 (traditional/airbrush).

Please PM me if you want contact info for the hair stylist and MUA.

  • I'm not sure what her website is, but her e-mail is BeautyByRachelAnn@yahoo.com

At least 4 of my friends used her as well, highly recommended and very reasonable with amazing work! She is very sweet and easy to work with. She has a team who does both hair and makeup. I believe each of the bridesmaids cost around $100 each with hair and makeup, but not sure if it included airbrush but def contact her!
  • I do not have any recommendations, but I too would not necessarily want to pay $100 for hair + makeup for being a bridesmaid.

Yes, I know being in a bridal party in NJ has associated costs, and they should have known there were costs before saying yes, etc.

However, at some point, people are not necessarily able to afford everything.

If hair and makeup is very important to you, you should pay for them all to have their hair and makeup done...and not as their gift for being in your bridal party. That way, they will all get ready with you at the hotel, and not worry about costs. In this case, this thread will give you recommendations that are within your budget...not necessarily theirs. (Honestly, unless you talk to each girl separately, you don't really know their budget.)

Otherwise, give them the option to either have their hair done professionally, or not if their budget does not allow it. It isn't really nice of you to demand that they have something done, especially if they have already mentioned that the costs are too high.

  • I can't tell from your post, but are you requiring your BMs to get hair and makeup done or simply giveing it as an option? If you are requiring hair and makeup you should be paying for hair and makeup. If you aren't requiring it then just let your BMs know the cost and ask them if they'd like an appointment.

There is no reason why you couldn't all still get ready together on location if some choose to do their own!

    I agree with this.

I would not want to HAVE to pay for my
Hair and makeup as a BM.

I would want to use my own hairstylist and I can do my own makeup.

I am paying for my BMs to eliminate this issue.

  • Oh no, definitely not forcing anyone! However I do want the option that is given to be as affordable as possible :)

  • I have paid as a BM but definitely not $100.(I realize it's for both though). I wouldn't want to pay that much. I'd feel its not my wedding so why spend so much. I think I paid between $35-50. Other weddings the brides didn't care what we did, so it wasn't an extra cost. As for makeup, unless someone never wears makeup and is clueless - I don't think its necessary to have it done by a professional. But if the BM would like it alright. Just realize that if some but not all BMs go through the pro, others who may not have budgeted /or want to spend more could feel like they "have to" use the professional. (Even though I doubt that you're forcibly recommending haha).
