Vegas wedding July 2014 .....Any help appreciated !!!!

Hello all , me and my partner are looking to get married in vegas July 2014 and would appreciate any help or tips With ourselves included we are looking at about 20 / 25 guests. Bearing in mind our will be travelling from the uk we would like to budget our hotel stay tp no more than $400 dollars per room over 4 nights , ( 2 adults, 2 adults 1 child , 2 adults 2 child , etc. hotels we have looked at include LUXOR, EXCALIBER, MGM SIGNATURE, MIRAGE , not set on these as any advice would be grateful. For the wedding venues we so far have looked at THE CHAPEL OF FLOWERS , this looks to be ideal for what we want ( we're both 36 years old and been together 20 years !!!! don't want any big long ceremony dragged out ) we liked the look of the Victorian chapel andy also maybes the gazebo but as its a day time wedding we were wondering about the heat and also the noise outside if we chose the gazebo, so far we looking at around about $1000 for the ceremony again any advice would be grateful. The wedding dinner/ reception , this is where we really need help . We are waiting to hear back from maggianos about availability so far we looked at the Venetian package there which included champagne toast, 4 hour bar , wine with dinner , options for the dinner .This is where we're struggling is it better to go with a package or book a room family style menus ?? Or if anyone could reccomend anything other , the free bar was a winner for me !!! ( $88 per adult) Looking at about $1600 - $2000 for dinner with drinks, we are fans of steakhouses and Italian style Any help, advice, tips would be much appreciated Regards Rob

  • Welcome to the board. Its good to see another July wedding! I would definitely advise against outside for the ceremony. Your guests will be greatful. As for rooms the luxor just went through a renovation so the rooms will at least be updated. Ive never heard anything good about the excaliber. U might want to look at the gold nugget they are downtown but recently renovated and good rates. .
  • I agree about the weather, the temp hit 115F a number of times this last July and an outdoor wedding would be very uncomfortable.  Transports (limos, small/medium shuttles, etc.) are also prone to breaking down due to the extreme heat, and their air conditioning units are often not up to the task of keeping everyone comfortable.  Larger transports with better on-roof air conditioning usually are more comfortable.

    Just an FYI.

  • Thanks jaime, we might go for the luxor then , we only there for 4 nights and as long as the rooms are clean we're happy also I don't expect us to be in the rooms much , cheers for taking the time to help.
  • Location wise and this is only my opinion the Mirage is the best. Not sure if you've been to Vegas before? but it's right in the middle of the strip and I think one of the best locations. You may want to consider Treasure Island, it's next door to the Mirage and the rates are, in my experience quite a bit lower. I stayed in Treasure Island for the last four days of our trip last month and paid just under £50 a night including resort fee (sun-wed). I got married in Caesars this July, it was around 110 that day, it was fabulous though I loved getting married outdoors. I think because you could rarely plan on doing that in the UK, it made it even better! It was incredibly hot though so unless you really love the heat and must get married outside, you may want to think about an indoor ceremony. I think if you want a private room you need to go with one of their family style set menus like the Venetian package, it's a great deal I would go with one of those. Have they given you a minimum spend for a private room? When I enquired the minimum spend was around $1300 for a private room for 11 guests. It's not far a walk from Treasure Island to Maggianos either - if you decided to walk back after your reception, there's a bridge connecting Treasure Island with the Fashion Show Mall (apologies if you've been and know all of this already). I ended booking a private room in Canaletto at the Venetian but I would equally have loved to go to Maggianos, the food is great. Have you considered the cost of a photographer? Thats the extra that I hadn't really considered properly and which ended up costing the price of the ceremony again.
  • Much appreciated , know we haven't been to vegas before , none of the party has been , we will look into treasure island sounds ideal aswell for us , did you enjoy your stay there was the rooms clean enough

If you do book Luxor, stay in the tower rooms. The pyramid rooms were fine but the elevator up to them is an experience. They go diagonal AND up, it's really unpleasant. We went to the room to change and couldn't stand the thought of getting back in them to go out again, so we stayed in.
  • I will second the TI suggestion.  TI is going to be much nicer than Luxor or Excalibur and they have a tram directly over to Mirage.  Also if you are looking at Maggianos this will be very close, it's just on the other side of the Fashion show mall.  The Sirens Pirate show will be great for kiddos too!
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

The rooms in TI were great very clean, good size no complaints at all. I was in a standard room. My parents also stayed in TI for two nights (their last two nights) and they really liked it too. Particularly the location, they stayed at the Vdara the first week which is a bit further along the strip. They were keen on the fact that the Vdara had a small kitchen and is non smoking but they definitely preferred the location of TI. It is a little dated compared to some rooms but the location and price made up for that, it was still a nice clean room. Aswell as the bridge/walkway over to the fashion show mall where Maggianos is located, in the other direction there's a tram (free) that you can hop on, just takes a minute to go to the Mirage. I stayed at the Mirage in 2008, when they had just been refurbished. There rooms are more modern than TI but the pool, cleanliness etc are all of the same standard, for the price Treasure Island is hard to beat. We got a good deal on Expedia, it was supposed to be 35% off but I've seen that quite a lot so I'd just keep checking for deals. I'm sure there's loads of other great hotels, I've stayed further along the strip in both directions but I found TI to be particularly handy, right in the middle of everything. The only negative is that I found the casino to be quite smoky but I also found that when I walked through the Mirage, Caesars and Venetian. It wouldn't put me off staying I think all hotels are the same in that respect, it's not too bad just because smoking is banned in public places at home it's odd to smell it again!
  • I stayed at the Luxor for my scouting trip last week and did not enjoy my stay at all. I agree the elevator was something else. Also, our room was HOT! We had to have some come look to see if the air was working okay TWICE. We ended up moving rooms our last night there because it was just awful in our room. They gave us a key to a room that had people in it!!!! The girls that were in the room was really sweet (it could have been drunk guys or something!!!) and let us use the phone to call the desk and explain what they did! They did not seem to care and told us to come back to try again. Really? I will never stay at the Luxor again. :( Just my experience though!
  • How about Flamingo as another suggestion? TI would be your best location with your reception at Maggianos. But Flamingo is also mid strip with affordable rooms and a great pool area.

  • Welcome to the board!  If you are thinking about the Mirage, Carmine's might be a good option as it is located in the Caesars Forum Shop's which would be right next door.  It is new and I haven't eaten there however, when I looked into it as a possibility for a meet and greet idea they were very helpful and quick to respond.

I agree with @spoon1984 in that you should decide how important photography is to you when making a decision on the chapel.  Some chapels will not allow you to bring in your own photographer and certain upgrades will be costly.

I prefer mid-strip locations just because it makes me feel like I am in the center of all of the Las Vegas action.  That is just me though and I know lots of people that like off strip hotels or at the end where it is quieter.  Maybe picking an area that you like would also help you find a venue?
  • Thanks everyone , noticed about the photography at the chapels maybe understand it through the service but hopefully take your own in their grounds, looking more into the rooms we would like non smoking with a safe and also fridge would be handy for everyone especially the kids
  • Chapel of the flowers forbids any outside photography. Even on their grounds. Thats why we had to look elsewhere :-(
We are staying at the Elara. All rooms are non smoking and come with a kitchenette. Other non smoking properties are the marriott grand chateau (which also has a kids club) and the Vdara.

I third Treasure Island. I loved it, for the price and the size of the room (we upgraded our room to the petite suite http://www.treasureisland.com/hotel/petite_suite.php). It is in a prime location, the hotel it self is a bit smaller, it was easier to navigate and the views were amazing! I know the prices aren't released yet for July, but I would recommend considering it!

I also would not recommend an outside wedding in July. It can get insanely hot!

Most rooms come with a safe. You might need to ask for a fridge in some hotels and they may charge. I think if you tell them it's for keeping medical supplies/insulin cold, they won't/don't/can't charge for it.
  • There is an empty fridge in TI rooms, when I stayed at the Cosmopolitan, Wynn and Mirage the fridges were just full of mini bar items. My uncle told the Aria it would be best if he could keep his medicine in a fridge so he got one for free, not sure what the charge would of been otherwise.
  • Thanks everyone , were still having trouble deciding on hotels but we are 95% certain on having our wedding inner / reception at MAGGIANOS wondering if anyone has been there or experienced a wedding function there , cheers
  • As a starting point have you seen the reviews on Vegasgroom's site http://www.vegasgroom.com/Maggianos_41.html
  • Are you planning on having your dinner in the main dining room of maggianos or a private room? They have great private dining rooms however it may be a bit harder to split dinner 'Dutch' because you will have to meet the room minimum and pay a 50% deposit upfront just to book the room. For 20 - 30 people you may need the Di Carlo ($1500) or Abruzzi ($2000) room. It may fit your budget better to try and get a few tables in the main dining room to escape the banquet minimums.

Im getting confused now! But regardless. .. maggianos has been brilliant to work with. They were the ONLY vendor who actually called me (im in Australia) after I sent my initial enquiry email. They have also allowed me to customise my own package and have been very flexible. Ive seen nothing but positive reviews on weddings there and im really glad ive decided to go with them.

  • We are planning the VENETIAN PACKAGE and maggianos have reccomended the DICARLO suite for our size party , we do like the idea of having everyone together eating on the same table which I think they do for this suite however we really want to have a room with balcony/ patio so we can relax outside with drinks after the meal, I think the ABRUZZI suite might be suitable , we more or less chose this package because we do like the idea of the 4 hour drinks package included, does anyone have experience of this ?? Sorry to go on but I have been told once the 4 hours are up you can go cash bar but do not know if you have to pay extra for rental of the room
