July 2012 Weddings

Gifts for Parents, Grandparents, etc.

I'm about at my wits end!  I have finally figured out what to get my bridesmaids but now I'm at a total loss.  What do I get for my father as a gift?  How about my fiance's parents?  Grandparents and other important people?

What is everyone planning to give as a gift to these important people?

...Hmmm on that note, I have no idea what i'm getting my hubby to be either...

Please help me, I'm stumped!

Re: Gifts for Parents, Grandparents, etc.

  • I'm stumped on the parents gifts as well!! I don't have any grandparents, and FI has a grandma but she's not contributing and we just got her a corsage. I think we'll get FI's mom a pair of earrings because she just got her ears pierced, but I'm throwing around the idea of a "mother of the groom" tote bag also, but I really don't know. My parents I'm totally lost on :( I'm getting FI a Kindle Fire (giving it to him beforehand so he can set it up for the honeymoon) and I'm sending a "groom's essentials" box to his room with cute things like a match book to keep the spark and a toy car to zoom through the bad times, etc. I am curious to hear what everyone else will share!

For our parents we're giving them an album of the wedding photos after the photos come in. We bought each 2 nice frames for our wedding photo and theirs, but afterwards I realized I should've bought extras so our younger brother's wedding photos can be in matching frames too. I might go back and get a third frame.  I'm also giving my Mom and FMIL vera clutches- I bought them thinking I'd give them as BM gifts but then decided on another pattern, but in the meantime these ones were discontinued and will only get me 1/4 of the price I paid if I return them- in other words, I didn't plan on giving them the clutches in but don't know who else to give them to and I'd rather give them to someone than only get 1/4 of my money back!

Grandparents and readers: Just giving corsages. We'll write the readers thank-you notes but just don't have it in the budget to give them anything else. FI's grandmothers were all so excited to hear they were getting corsages, so I think that's enough!

  • We've talked about this A LOT, so you might not get a lot of responses.

Photo albums or photo books are really popular choices, that's what we're doing. Also I know a lot of girls are giving their parents gift cards to restaurants for a night out, or a gift certificates to a b&b for a weekend trip.

Personalized hankies like these are also popular:

  • I am doing the glittered toasting flutes that say mother of the bride, etc for my parents and fi's mom and then we will give them all a photo book of wedding photos after the wedding.  I dont have any grandparents and FI just has his grandma and I wasnt planning to give her anything.  If we do a corsage for FI's mom we might do one for his grandma too but that would be about it.  I might look at those personalized hankies.  If I had more time and less stuff to get done in the next 45 days I might embroider some myself but I just cant let myself take on any more projects!

  • We are doing photo albums for the parents.  And we are going to give them something else as well, probably a gift card to a nice restaurant with a nice card.  The readers are probably going to get gift cards and wine and wine glasses.  Grandparents are just getting corsages at this point.

  • We did hankerchiefs for my mom and my dad as well as a night at a bed and breakfast winery with wine tasting.
  • We're getting my parents a rafting/dinner package that they can use on their 30th anniversary trip in September in Jackson Hole.
