RSVP Date

Hello ladies!  I am just in need for some good advice.  My RSVP date was August 12, and we have now passed that date.  There are still some people on our guest list that have not told us whether or not they will be able to make it.  Our wedding is October 12, 2013, so technically I still have some more time before I have to finalize our numbers for catering.  What is the proper etiquette?  When can I ask people if they are able to make it?  Thanks for your help!

Re: RSVP Date

  • I would wait a week past and if nothing since they have just mailed things.  I would then call and ask them yes or no
  • Im not sure on the proper etiquette but if you are generally in touch with these people or FI is it wouldnt hurt just casually asking them. Sometimes people genuinely forget to RSVP. Like my girlfriend. . She has booked her flight, I know she is coming but she just hasnt actually RSVP through our wedding website yet.

  • I'd say wait a week, then you are your FI can start following up.  Just use the excuse you need to get final numbers to the vendors.

  • People love to ignore deadlines.  We had to call about 25 people, and we gave them a week like others suggested.

  • I agree with waiting a week.  Your RSVP date was pretty early, so you might even wait two since it may mean less phone calls you have to make.
  • I agree about waiting. My RSVP date was 8/1 for a 9/28 wedding and I still have about a dozen people outstanding ... but I have enough of a headcount to get my work done, give or take a few people on the fence.

I also made it a rule that people can call OR e-mail OR use the wedding website to RSVP. Some people want to tell you but forget when they're at a computer. Count those details, don't expect everybody to fill out the form.
  • Thanks for the advice!  I will give everybody a little bit more time and than start calling.  Glad to hear I am not the only person who had this issue.
