Really warm under dress

Hello lovelies!

I just had my first fitting the other day, and while I'm SO happy with the way everything fit and will fit, I'm a bit concerned over the fact that after about five minutes of standing in the dress, I started getting very warm underneath the skirt. The dress is heavier than I remembered, which is fine, but has anyone else had this problem? I don't mind it being warm, but one of my least favorite sensations in the entire world is when my legs stick together. Any tips for avoiding that problem?

Thanks! Happy planning!

Yep. That's part of wedding gowns!

Can you wear some of the bike-short style spanx under your dress to avoid thigh-rub/stick?

  • Body Glide works well too for keeping your legs from sticking together when your are sweating.
"There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness." -Friedrich Nietzsche, "On Reading and Writing"
  • Body Glide works great. Also for a fresh feeling, I used a spray baby powder (comes out as liquid but feels like baby powder and helps absorb wetness).
  • @prettybirdy27 - Well, it certainly did as advertised!  Your thighs weren't rubbing! :)

  • Spanx is kind of convenient simply because of its multipurpose, by avoiding your thighs rubbing together, smoothing down your figure and even extra support, plus it would also help absorb sweat.
  • Welcome to wedding dresses - mine was super light in comparison to any other gown I had tried on - I was still hot by the end of the evening.

PPs have great suggestions of products you might want to use - I didn't use anything and was fine, but like I said, my dress was light in comparison to most!

  • Is it a ball gown? Strap some battery-powered fans to your thighs for improved circulation.

    Not being serious, of course.

I had the same concern about being hot.  During my fitting, I felt like I was burning up.  On the actual day, I had no problem.....I really wasn't hot at all.  I think I did a few swipes of deodorant on my inner thighs to keep them from chafing.
  • I'm doing spanx...and I'll likely put deodorant in places deodorant has never been seen.  After my first fitting I also ditched the slip. All it did was make me look fatter and way, way hotter.
  • Thanks, all! My second fitting was the other day and everything felt a lot better. I was told that I'll be so distracted that I won't even notice higher-than-normal temperatures under the dress, but I'm glad to have some emergency solutions, should the need arise!

    Happy planning!
