Our Bar

So FI and I will be hosting beer, wine and a couple signature cocktails. I live in a rural area and hosted bars are literally unheard of and cash bars run rampant. Like all venue coordinators looked at me like I was absolutely crazy when I asked for prices of an open bar (which none of the four venues we toured could give me since no one has asked before). At my venue, the cocktails and mixed drinks prices skyrocket, so we're not hosting them. I've asked that bottles are moved from out in the open and will have a sign on the bar telling guests what we're hosting. Is there anything I'm missing? I, unfortunately, can't tell the venue that they can't serve drinks we don't host, so I'm trying to make sure that I've covering all my bases into making sure that we host our guests since we WANT to host.

PS- this could be a non issue eventually when we get closer to the wedding if we haven't spent the rest of our wedding savings, we'll use the rest to pay the entire tab.

Re: Our Bar

  • Nope. Sounds like you have all your bases covered.
  • I think you're good.
  • Sounds like you're doing everything right.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • you're good. Good thinking about the sign.

My venue coordinator tried to convince me everyone does cash bars and tried to steer me away from a limited hosted. <rolls eyes>

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

So weird. You would think they would want to up sell.
  • Sounds like you've thought of everything! :)

Yeah, it's so unusual to see venue coordinators not trying to push cash bars on potential hosts.
