Louisiana-New Orleans

Transportation issues!!!

So we are being married in a Catholic Church, and we're currently looking at St. Mary of Assumption for the ceremony. We're trying to decided between somewhere in the French Quarter or at City Park New Orleans for the reception. The French Quarter would be preferred but, parking is a nightmare? How would we shuffle guests between their cars or between site locations? And I worry about guests who are not local will get lost or go home between the two. Any suggestions?

Re: Transportation issues!!!

  • You might want to look into hiring mini-buses/shuttle buses.  Almost all of our guests were out of town for our wedding last November.  Almost everyone was staying in the French Quarter so we had shuttles pick everyone up at our hotel (Bourbon Orleans) which was centrally located and taken to the ceremony/reception which was in the Garden District.  At the end of the evening the shuttles picked everyone up and returned them to the French Quarter so the partying could continue.  We used Big Easy Limos and had no issues whatsoever.  They even upgraded our mini-buses on the return trip.  Since you may have a few stops you should ask for a quote for both 1) point to point pick up and drop off and 2) hourly fee.  We found point to point to be a huge cost savings for us.  Good luck!

  • We are having our ceremony at St. Mary's Assumption and the reception at the Tea Room... However we did look at places like Two Sisters Pavilion in City Park, The Foundry, and The Roosevelt. The only two with good parking were Tea Room and City Park. But if you want the reception in the french quarter, guest will find a way to park...just might be a little more time consuming. Either way it will all work out!! :)
