How long do restaurants usually take to reply back about reception/group booking enquiries?

Hi everyone! We're trying to nail down where our reception dinner will be and I've emailed Hard Rock, House of Blues, Border Grill and El Segundo/Strip Burger and have had no replies yet. It's only been three days but I'm so impatient! We can't make any decisions until we have some questions answered! Perhaps it's because it's been the weekend?! When we were emailing ceremony locations I always had a reply within 24hours so I've been spoilt!

  • I think it's definitely been because of the weekend! If you used an online web form (where you filled out fields on their website) you should also carefully watch your spam inbox - that's where the email from Caesar's landed and it wasn't until I emailed them a second time that they said they already sent something!

I've been using about 5 business days as my metric before I kick vendors from my "potential" list but we are over 10 months away from our date so I'm forcing myself to be a bit patient. Hope you hear back from them soon!

  • Sometimes the problem is the generic 'sales@' type email addresses never make it to the people who need to see the emails; it's basically just a typical big corporation sales staff versus IT department disconnect.  My recommendation is to always call the restaurant, find out who handles group sales, talk to them and get their email address and email that person directly.  I had the same experience trying to get booking info for Foundation Room at Mandalay, ultimately got the sales manager Amber Zeller's email, contacted her directly instead and never had issues from that point on.

  • Thanks @katelynswartz and @vegasgroom I woke up to an inbox full of replies!  I knew I should be more patient and yes I think the weekend had a lot to do with it :)

Once we've made a few more decisions I think I will start phoning people to firm things up rather than dealing with generic emails.  Its tricky from Australia but worth doing!
  • Nixy I used to wake up at 5am to make vendor calls :-)

  • That's keen @missmo14 ! Our daughter doesn't sleep through the night yet so I already feel like I see more of the wee hours than I should!
  • Perfect time to call Vegas though :-)

  • Have you narrowed down some restaurants? If you go with el segundo/strip burger you know im gonna be the crazy bride at fashion show mall hanging down from Maggianos screaming NIXYYYYYY wanting to catch a glimpse of you in your wedding glory :-)

  • Ha ha! Now that would be worth seeing!  We're going to have a good chat tonight.  If we go for el segundo/strip burger we might also get a big suite so we can keep the party going as it's a cheaper option so we'll have money to spare and we'd like to do more for our guests.  Hard Rock is the other main contender at this stage as we can have a private room, our own music etc.  My main issue is it being off strip.  We had wanted to stay near where we're having our reception to make it easy for our daughter to go to bed if she's tired (all of the grandparents have offered to look after her) but as we'll be there for 5-6 nights I'd rather be on the strip. I suppose it depends how long we book it for, aiming to get there 5pm.
  • @missmo14 we've made a decision!

We're going for a private room at the Hard Rock Cafe on the strip :)  We can't get exclusive use of the patio but hopefully we'll be able to go out there for photo's etc.

The room is big enough that unless all of our 'maybe' guests make it we'll have enough space to get a photo booth in, we can play our own music and there are two screens we can use for images etc so super happy.

I've just emailed them a million more questions but it's looking like it's a go!

Also swatches for my dresses petticoat arrived today from the UK so I can pick the colour and start shoe shopping!  It's all happening!
  • Yaaaaayyy. Love it! We are having our meet and greet on the patio at the hard rock. Just waiting for our RSVP date to book it in (cos they have a 40 guest minimum). Im so excited for you nixy. How are the NZ ceremony plans going?

  • Not too bad!  Still having location issues as where we wanted to have the ceremony (on the side of an extinct volcano looking out over the Auckland harbour!) might no longer allow weddings.  We should know more in September and in the mean time my Dad is going to do a scouting trip around to see if there is anywhere else around the coastline that would be good :)  We also need a plan B in case of rain so that has to be sorted too... there are a few lovely parks with gazebo's we might just use.

All these things can be done quite last minute though as there are only 9 guests we can pretty much go wherever, so long we get married in one of the two locations we have to put on our wedding license!

Have started looking at nice restaurants for lunch, again as we don't need a private area it's pretty easy to choose somewhere!

We've locked in our photographers for NZ which is good, still in talks for Vegas...

    Slowly slowly!
