To Veil or Not to Veil....

My wedding is a year away so this is a no rush situation. I originally did not really want a veil. Now I think I would like one. The thing is, I am set on a type of hair style and I don't know if it will still look nice with a veil. I am stuck on the type of hairstyle because I feel it is the most me, and that's what I want to be on my wedding day. I think it is also going to go well with the dress that I already purchased (it was on sale, yay). If when I do the trial, it doesn't work for me then I can figure something out. My question is do you ladies think I can pull off a veil with a hair style similar to these?

  • Yes, I think it that hairstyle will look fine with a veil.

  • I had that hairstyle at my trial and I saw it with the veil. My stylist advised me that most brides don't like a veil with this hairstyle- since everything is all on one side and a veil is centered in the middle. I didn't feel like it looked bad, but I could see what she meant. Now I'm doing this style except not all pulled to one side but even on both sides and it does look better with my veil.

I want to repeat that it did not look BAD but I could see what she meant when she added the veil so I thought I'd pass that onto you. I'm assuming that you are talking about a long veil but if by chance you are thinking of a birdcage veil then that would definitely go well with that hairstyle! I think it's the ideal hairstyle for a birdcage veil.

Since your question is can you pull off a veil I think that you can! Just try on lots of veils.

  • yes I think you could pull off a veil, and if your stylist is good she will show you (and one of your girls) how to remove the veil to avoid messing with the hair style.

I originally did not want a veil, but my mother insisted. I brought the veil with me to my hair trial and my stylist was able to make it work, and I loved it!  I ended up not even taking my veil off until later in the night.

  • My hair was similar - pulled to the side like that.  I did not wear a veil mainly because I did not have strong feelings about veils and I procrastinated and never got one ordered.

In hindsight, I kind of wish I had worn one (I was not strongly attached to my hair style - just knew that I wanted it partly down) just because, what other time in your life are you going to get the chance to wear a veil?  But, I'm not that disappointed.  My hair looked great!
  • Yes I think you could pull off a veil beautifully with that hair style. I would probably opt for a simple single layer one that you can attach to the back, nothing multi layers or over the face.
  • Exactly what PP said. Something simple, not too elaborate. And what you can always do is get your hair done and then go veil shopping. Try them on see if yo still feel having one after that.
