Honeymoon in the Poconos

Has anyone ever been to any nice, romantic places in the Poconos? We're trying to plan our honeymoon in the Poconos but we can't seem to find any really romantic hotels or places. We've never been there before so ANY help or suggestions for anything is very much appreciated!

Re: Honeymoon in the Poconos

  • I've stayed at the Pocono Palace Resort with my FI about a year and a half ago - and we LOVED it. I will give the warning that it is CHEESY (like 70s love story cheesy) - we had one of the Champagne Tower Rooms which had a champagne tower jacuzzi AND a heart shaped swimming pool. They also had other activities going on as well - I not only shot my first bow and arrow - but also perfected my shot :) It is designed for couples - so they have events going on all day. The food was tasty too!

The cheese factor might not be your cup of tea - but we have nothing but happy memories from it!

my aunt and uncle have a framed photo of themselves in the champagne tower jacuzzi from the 80's on display in their living room. i've wondered many times....who took the photo?
  • My sister and I did a girls' night at Mt Airy Casino. The property is really nice: restaurants, spa, golf course, and of course, the casino. We didn't really get to take advantage of all of the amenities, but FI and I have talked about taking a weekend there. FI went on a work retreat at Skytop Lodge and said it was really nice, and lots of activities to do.

  • Cove Haven Resorts are known for being good for couples.

Do you have your heart set on the Poconos?

  • I am partial to Mount Airy Resort because I got married there! It is certainly the most upscale hotel in the area. However, I would not say its too romantic. It is a tourist magnet and there really is not much to do besides golf and gamble. The design is very modern and rooms are super clean. The eateries are over priced and nothing special.
I would suggest Skytop lodge. That place is amazing! The grounds are the best around and they have so many activites you don't even have to leave the property. Its would really be a great honeymoon getaway. skytop is an older property so it is a bit dated. My H says the decor reminds him of grandmas livingroom.
I never suggest any of the Caesars (?) resorts (cove haven, paradise stream or pocono palace) because IMO, they are completely outdated and totally cheesy. Although at paradise stream they have a comedy show and newlyweds game on Friday nights that is fucking hilarious.

  • I second skytop or check out pocono manor. I used to hold a big event for work at skytop, it's the perfect honeymoon location  if you want to stay in PA or local. Also Stroudsmoor country inn is gorgeous as well, the food is always amazing there.
