S/O Cranberry sauce

@nolabridesmaid While I love fresh cranberry sauce, I do have a special place in my heart for that horrible canned stuff.

Funny story:  Mom has this glass serving dish that she adores b/c it makes her laugh.  It's shaped like a turkey.  However, a few Thanksgivings ago, that's what she decided to serve the cranberry sauce in.  I pointed out that it now looked like guts.  No one ate any of the cranberry sauce and the dish no longer comes out at Thanksgiving.  :)

hehehe.  I love anything  cranberry.  I put the whole berry jellied stuff in my baked beans.  I love taking homemade sauce and dumping it on cheesecake. mmmmmmmmmm
  • I love canned cranberry.  LOVE.  I get made fun of for it by my family, but I don't care.

    Me and jellied cranberry foreva.
  • Nah, the can reminds me of a few deceased aunties. Now, the Trader Joes fresh cranberry relish. Soooooo tasty, like what I grew up with. I eat entire containers of that stuff when it's sold.

    love.
(I make awesome cranberry sauce, but we always have the crap in a can.
Also, we always have the spiced apples from a can--the ones that are a color never found in nature.

I always end up serving fresh and canned cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving.  I make an awesome cranberry sauce, but I just can't seem to give up the slices of the jellied stuff.

  • Ugh, spiced apple rings. I can make myself sick on them and I'm the only person in the house who eats them so yeah- I don't buy them any more.

We do fresh and canned. DH loves the canned type and requests that when I serve it, I ensure that it maintains its can shape.

    they're amazeballs good.
My sisters and I have fork-sword-fights over the last of them every year.
But I (probably unfairly) associate them as being  pretty much a lowbrow type of food that only my mom's family would have introduced me to :)
Probably because it's "lets take something healthy and make it unrecognizable and horrid for you"
  • Mom makes fresh orange/cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and then buys the cranberry jelly for her bff, who can't have seeds.

Mom's is way better, but :::shrug::: I still eat the jelly.
