Francis Ford Coppola has been known as an admirer of filmmakers including Federico Fellini and . . . R. Kelly? According to Coppola’s son-in-law Thomas Mars,
the “Godfather” director was blown away by Kelly’s 33-part video for
the epic ode to cheating, “Trapped in the Closet.” Mars told music site
Pitchfork of the video: “It was the best TV experience of my life . . .
I’d never seen anything like it before. I watched it again and again.”
And, “I watched it with my father-in-law [Coppola], and I remember him
sitting there in silence for 10 minutes . . . then saying, ‘This is
incredible.’ ”
