Isle Runners on Carpet

I'm debating whether or not to have an isle runner for the ceremony. The sanctuary is carpeted & I'm worried about my heals poking through it!

Re: Isle Runners on Carpet

  • Every time I look at an aisle runner, I live in fear of falling on it. I'm the single klutziest person I know, and all I see are my shoes getting tangled in it.
  • I wouldn't do it. I've seen people have issues rolling them out, tripping them, rolling them back up... seems unnecessary.
  • We didn't do on for saftey & photo reasons. My MOH was wearing very high heels that I knew about and I didn't know what kind of eels other BM would wear, I was afraid that their heels would go through runner & they would trip. Also consider tripping hazard of guests after the ceremony as they all walk on it.

Also photographer said that unless taped down, if light weight runners have a tendency to get messed up & off center as the BM walk down the isle and more then when you walk down the isle. Which means when they go to take photos of you from behind as you walk down the isle, the runner will be messed up which will mess up your photos.

  • It's unnecessary. And it's aisle.
  • They're unnecessary and a potential safety hazards for klutzes like myself. Skip it.
  • I think aisle runners in general are unattractive and not needed. I would say skip it. One less thing to worry about!

  • Aisle runners are awful. I've been to weddings where they have been taped down and/or stapled to the floor and STILL ripped and bunched up.

    Awful. Skip it.

Last wedding I went to they had an aisle runner. Someone's heel ripped a hole and kid you not, when my brother went to receive communion his foot got caught in the hole and started to fall. Very smoothly though he caught himself on the banister.

After that incident, I'm convinced not to have one.

    This.
  • Even if the carpet isn't in great condition it is unlikely that anyone will remember it...heck we got married in our home church and I couldn't tell you what the color of the carpet is and it has been the same for years.  But people will remember if you or someone in your WP trips on the runner.  If you want to decorate the aisle, decorate the chairs / pews on either side of it.

Besides all that, how sharp are these heels that they are poking through fabric? I don't where heels, so I'm honestly curious lol. Personally, I'd be afraid the fabric would shift and I'd end up catching it with my shoes and tripping.

  • I think it might be the friction of shoes and the fabric getting bunched up not so much we are wearing scissors on our feet

  • That would make for an interesting ceremony.  You might have to fly the person in if you don't already live on an island though.  Just a thought, in case you are budget conscious.
