Ring bearer gift ideas

My FH and I are looking at purchasing gifts for the bridal party, but we are stumped on a gift for our ring bearer, who is my FH's nephew and will be 7 at the time of our wedding.

Looking for something that is age appropriate and has some meaning to it (opposed to buying him a toy because he's 7).

Any ideas appreciated!

Serious question: why not get him a toy? At that age, it's probably what he would appreciate most.

That is true.

We're at a bit of a cross-road. I would like to get him something he would potentially like and could use, but 1) I'm not sure what that is and 2) he would quickly outgrow it. FH would like something that has some meaning to it, that he perhaps may not use now but would keep and appreciate in the future- he thought of an engraved picture frame. I don't know what a little boy would want with a picture frame, but perhaps when he's older, a photo of him with his family at the wedding would be memorable.

I'd talk to his mom and find out what he's into right now. A little boy definitely wouldn't want an engraved picture frame, and he probably wouldn't appreciate the frame when he was older, even.

I think its fine to get him a toy. However, if you are looking for a different sort of idea, I was at one RD where the two ring bearers were given suitcases monogrammed with their initials (probably from L.L. Bean or similar). They loved them and walked around to every table showing them off, but they were a little younger than your nephew. Your FI might know if that's something he'd enjoy.

Another idea, though potentially pricey, is a sports jersey from his favorite team if he is into sports.

If you're set on the idea of some sort of memento, why not send a framed pro pic of him at the wedding to his parents afterward? Honestly, they are more likely than him to appreciate that sort of thing immediately. We plan to do this with our FGs (although they ended up being so photogenic that now we're thinking shutterfly photo album instead!)

I would shop for him like you're shopping for his birthday or Christmas. If you're stumped on what to get him I would ask his parents. What is meaningful to you might not be his cup of tea.

Buy him the same kind of gift you'd get him for any other gift-giving occasion. For a kid that age, I'd imagine it would be some kind of toy or gadget. Check with his parents for ideas and to make sure that it's okay for him to receive your choice of gift-some parents can be very strict about what their kids receive as gifts.

We bought our groomsmen ties to wear as their gifts, and we are buying one for our ring bearer also.

A tie to wear at the wedding isn't exactly the type of gift a child would like to receive...

Items "to wear at the wedding" are not good wedding party gifts because they are not gifts TO the wedding party members-they are gifts to stroke YOUR egos.

Get them something that isn't wedding-related.

My 7 y/o Nephew is ring boy at our wedding as well.
We got him a cute shirt that says "ring securty" that he can wearduring our rehearsal.

- a nap sack with his name personalized on it
-personalized pencil case with school supplies inside
-lego cuff links
I made up a Ring boy survival kit which consists of candy and I wrote a cute poem that goes a long with it.
-Personalized stationary
-a Gift card to Toys R us.
