Hair/MakeUp in Center City - HELP

Hey Ladies!!!

I need your help...We are staying at the Loews hotel and have decided to do a first reveal and need to be ready by 1:30, but our actual ceremony won't be until 4:30.   I was originally having my hair stylist and makeup artist come to our hotel but with 8 girls (not including moms and gmoms) needing to get done I really don't want to have to start super early.

I'm looking for a salon in the Center City area that you can recommend for my BMs and I to go and get our hair and makeup done the morning of the wedding instead. I feel it will be much quicker this way, and we each can get worked on at the same time. I live in the western suburbs so don't know the city all that well.  Any help or salon recommendations is greatly appreciated :)

TY!!!

  • I'm getting marrired at the Loews on Saturday and are having Cindy from Dylan Michael and Jill from Up Your Do come to me there.  I saw the suite that I'll be staying in, and it seemed like such the perfect place to relax and be pampered.  We'll just have one hair person and one makeup artist getting 7 of us ready.  We need to be ready at 11am, and they've proposed to start at 7:30am.  If you need to be ready at 1:30 and have 8 people, they'd probably want to start you at 10:30.  Even if you had 10-12 with the moms, you probably wouldn't need to start before 8-9ish.  Or you could look into a team with more than one hair/makeup person, such as Bella Angel.

If you definitely want to go out, Pileggi on 8th and Walnut always does a good job, and I've recently become obsessed with Studio CL on 19th b/t Sansom and Walnut for my haircuts (I've never had up dos or makeup there).

  • Another few places that come to mind are Toppers (I think on 18th? near Walnut) or B2 --- I've never actually been to B2, but I've been to their NJ location Bernards to get ready with a wedding party.  I would just ask when you call around what the space is like --- do they have a private space for wedding parties or will you be spread out over a huge salon (that was my problem with Bernards in NJ ---- there were about 8 of us, and we were nowhere near each other).

MOKO in Old City is a smaller salon that might work for you.  Or Parlour in Fishtown if you want to travel that way.

  • Thanks Lauren!!  Congrats on your wedding this weekend! I hope you have an amazing day.  I am actually booked with Casey from Dylan Michael for my wedding, and was worried about the time and running late. They are coming at 7:30, and we need to be finished by 12:30. It makes me nervous!!
  • I know Jellybean used Casey, so she may be able to comment on her timeliness.  And I can let you know (if you remind me) after I get back from my HM about how well Cindy kept to schedule!

  • Yes, I used Casey from Dylan Michaels. We had 6 people (including myself). I think she started at 9:45 and was finished by noon.. She is really fantastic. I am SO happy I did not go out to get hair and makeup done. I can't even explain to you how relaxing it was to not have to worry about going somewhere.

Something to think about as well. Salons are BUSY on Saturday mornings. You are not likely to find someplace that will do everyone at the same time. And IMO you are more likely to run behind going to a salon. Unless, maybe you went someplace that has a whole bridal room, like Joseph Anthony in Glen Mills.
