Accessories help

Hello everyone, I am going to be married in Missouri in early October. I really don't know what I should do with my dress:  it's http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Modern-Vintage-Bridal/8501
I don't have a good picture of me in the dress with the lace over it yet, just the slip underneath. Does anyone have suggestions for what I should do with accessories? I was thinking blue or ivory flats for shoes (I'm very tall and my fiance is actually an inch shorter than me)
Would a light blue cardigan work if I get cold at my outside reception? I was thinking of tying it with an ivory colored sash. But the dress is very sleek and has no poof, would a cardigan even work?
I think I've decided against a necklace but I am thinking drop earrings and a bracelet on one hand, that won't detract from the lace. Do pearls go with lace or is that too much?
Also, what could I do for a veil? I don't want to hide the back of the dress which is probably one of my favorite features. I am thinking about wearing my hair in a low side curled pony that I wear in front with a hairpiece at the back.
I'm pretty laid back style wise, so I don't want it to look like I was trying too hard. Any suggestions?

Re: Accessories help

  • 1. Shoes. It looks like the dress covers them, so I don't think it really matters. I'd go with ivory.

    2. Cardigan. I'm not really a fan of it but if you get a nice one then yes (it's better than being cold). I wouldn't go with the sash though as it can be a bit much. If you do with the cardigan then if wear blue shoes.

    3. Accessories. I wouldn't go with a necklace either. Pearls would look nice. If you do with drop earrings then I'm not so sure about pearls.

    4. You don't have to wear a veil. If you really want one then maybe you should look at some that you're available to purchase and we could help you from there. Other than that then maybe getting a short veil might help or remove it after the ceremony.

Either colour shoe would be fine.
Cardigans aren't really "bridal" in my opinion..Perhaps a wrap, bolero, or bridal jacket.
I think drop earrings and a chunky bracelet would look nice.  Perhaps not exclusively pearls, though.
As for veils, though not necessary, I think that either a birdcage or a flyaway veil would work without covering up the detail on your dress.

  • In the picture of your dress (which is very beautiful), a pearl bracelet on one hand looks nice; but the necklace goes too much. And personally, a pearl pendant would be needed.

  • I agree that a cardigan isn't very bridal.  I've seen it look cute with certain gowns, but I don't think a cardigan (as much as I love cardigans - and I LOVE cardigans :) works with your gown.  Maybe a pashmina would be a good idea.  Just as snuggly but a little less casual.  A bolero or shrug might also work.

I don't think a sash suits the cut of this dress.  I'd have to look again, but it looks like it has a seam under the bust?  I think a sash is unnecessary if this is the case.

I would do drop earrings rather than a necklace.  I think the neckline of this gown is interesting enough and a necklace would distract (my gown is similar and I chose no necklace too :)  Earrings would be pretty....you could do pearls or something more blingy, I think.

Blue shoes would be cute for your something blue....as PP said you can't see them much, but I think blue is fun.

  •   As far as shoes, if the dress covers them it doesn't matter too much.

I'm not a big fan of wearing a cardigan with a wedding dress. Perhaps you can wear a bolero. I would also forgo the sash all together.

As for jewelry I would stick to a bracelet and earrings. Pearls would look nice. The dress doesn't need a necklace though. It would be too much going on.

  • Shoes - wear whatever color & style you like, have fun with it

Jewlery, you can get away with pearls. Normally I'm not a pearl person, but I think they would work well with this dress. A pair of drop earrings & a bracelet would be enough but if you want some sort of a simple necklace then smaller simple earrings would probably work well too.

Cardigan - why not? It's just for the reception. A cardigan will be the easiest thing to wear while eating dinner, visiting with guests and dancing. Treat yourself to a good quality one, because it is something that you can wear again and will remember your wedding probably everytime you wear it. But skip the sash.

Veil - since you don't want to cover the back of your dress, try to find a hair clip/flower or something that you can put in your hair, like behind your ear or that area to add something to your hair for a wow factor and it won't take away from your dress.
