Re: what to replace alcohol with in a drink?

  • You could leave it out or use Sprite/seltzer/club soda. And obviously a sparkling juice or cider or non-alcoholic wine for the sparkling wine.

  • If you could find sparkling pear soda, that would probably work to replace both the vodka and the sparkling wine.  Maybe Trader Joe's?

I would also suggest trying it without the simple syrup.  If you use sparkling fruit drinks to replace the vodka and the wine, that will probably make it a bit sweeter.
  • Pear juice/nectar to replace the pear vodka and club soda/seltzer/ginger ale to replace the wine
  • ginger ale
  • you won't need the syrup without the alcohol.  replace both the sparkling wine and vodka with either ginger ale, club soda, sprite, or sparkling grape or pear juice (non alcoholic).  Vodka is considered an odorless, tasteless drink, so the only substitute I can think of would be water - and that would water it down- which is why the recipe calls for the syrup.
I want a love like Johnny & June!
