    okay true confession time:  before starting to plan my own wedding I'd never even heard of save the dates.  I don't know how (or why) they became popular because what I learned thanks to some of ya'll is at the end of the day almost nobody is ever UNDER for their wedding count lol.  Actually I'm still a little obnoxiously meh about it, I mean the invitation arrives in enough time that either you're available or you aren't.  Do I really wanna send out a card to make sure you're available?  yeah, um no.   do we have more feelings about this?

    I like the idea of "save the dates".  Everyone is soooo much busier these days and if you have people who have busy lives and you really want them at your wedding it helps to get the advance notice.  As for me, ALL of FI guests are from out of town, so more notice the better.

    I also love the idea of the Save the Date for my wedding. My wedding is Memorial Day weekend and a Sunday evening wedding. People tend to schedule vacation for this weekend saying it is the start of summer activities. This way people can plan early.

    For me everyone asked if it was the invite. I WANTED everyone to come so I sent them well in advance so people could make travel plans. I like soontobe said, need to know my travel plans early because I'm likely to be booked if I dont know about something well in advance
