group thank you note for a big group gift?

Yesterday my coworkers unexpectedly gifted me a large item from my registry while we were in a team meeting, along with a card signed by most of them. 2 out of the 60 folks on my team are my friends outside of work and are invited to my wedding in a few weeks. I was so excited and appreciative to receive the gift, then I realized I will now have alot of TY notes to write.... So my question is ....Am I now going to need to write 60+ TY notes, even though I am guessing that only half of the group contributed to the gift? I'm thinking yes...but didn't know if there were any better ideas.

My co-workers threw me a surprise shower and gifted me with a very large item from our registry. There are over 50 people in my department and I don't know who contributed and who didn't. I wrote a very nice thank you email and a thank you card which I posted on the bulletin board in the copy room.

Usually with group gifts each person gets a thank you note. I think it's different with work-showers, especially if you have a huge department.

  • I wrote one note, posted it in the work room and brough in a coffee cake as a thank you. That seems to be the norm where I work
  • With work showers, I think that a thank-you card posted on a central bulletin board would be sufficient, but I can see where an email would be good in addition.
  • I wrote individual thank you notes but I only had to write 20.  I think with a larger department a thank you card posted in the lunch room plus a mass email saying thank you and that there is cake or cookies in the lunch room as a thank you would be a good solution.

  • 60 cards for one gift is absurd. I would leave a note in a general space and maybe make cookies or something.
  • I agree with one note in a general space.

I would feel an extra 10% thanked if cookies were involved <drool>
