Wedding Invitations & Paper

Type of invitations

My fiancee and I are doing a planned elopement to Vegas in April with a party for our friends and family in May or June.

I've been checking out some invitations for the party and am lost on what theme to pick. I want something fun, non-fancy, and maybe whimsical. Obviously I've been on etsy looking at all of them, but I'm wondering...if I got for a "theme" invitation, what would make more sense -   Vegas theme since that's where we're getting married, or a Boston theme where we live and where the party will be? The party is totally casual, we're thinking of doing BBQ catering or just generic party food catering, so there's no theme for the actual party. I actually have no idea how were' even going to decorate.

So, should I do a Vegas theme, Boston theme or no theme and wait and see what the heck we're doing for a party?

The theme is up to you and your FI and no one else. If you're just doing a BBQ and no theme at all, I'd just pick one, but I'd be careful with the Vegas idea, because if you just do BBQ ppl might expect it to be vegas themed. Even themed weddings don't do themed invites, some do, but not all... so there's a thought for you too.

  • right, that's what i was thinking. if i do vegas themed invites, people are going to expect the party to be vegas themed. i saw some cute invites with the boston skyline, which might be a good idea
  • Are you from Boston? That's the only way it would make sense.  I think there's also theme BBQ invites out there. You could always do like celebration invites as well.

  • I wouldn't do a theme - I'd just get invitations you really like and go with that. You could get them specific to a certain time of year or just with a design you like. check out wedding paper divas - they have tons of designs and you can flag your favorites as you look through all of them.
