Have anyone done a vow renewal recently? Our 10 year anniversary is coming next year. We would like to do a vow renewal. Would love some ideas and some pointers.

Also how many years is traditional for a vow renewal?

10 years is a great number for a vow renewal. People around here generally think that they should be reserved for milestone years. The lowest I would do would be 10 years.

I think you can throw a fabulous party: open bar, great food and music. You can do a spotlight dance, but I would skip cake cutting and any sort of garter toss. As for a ceremony, not bridal party and no huge white dress. Wear something gorgeous, but I would steer clear of white. Definitely don't register or have any showers.

Whatever you do, it's a vow renewal--not a wedding re-do (aka PPD).

You don't ask for gifts. You don't wear a traditional looking wedding dress. You can even do a vow renewal with just you and your spouse.

As far as tradition goes, the years vary. I never saw the point in vow renewals. It's not like the vows you made on your wedding day diminished over time--if you need to review what they are, reread them or say them in private.

10 or 25 or 50 years are usually when vow renewals are done. They look bad for the couple when done within the first few years of marriage.

Are you planning to invite others to your vow renewal, or just go on a vacation with your husband?

you are going to have people who are going to bash the idea of renewing your vows.. i think its wonderful idea.. im doing it next year.. its your guys day.. do what ya'll want to do and screw what these rude people think..
