Writing on rocks

For those of you who did a river rock/wishing stone style guest book, what kind of pen did you use? Will just a regular sharpie suffice or should I get some kind of paint pen? I will probably be using these rocks: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/beach-stones/s500518

    Im using both fine tip sharpies and fine tip paint pens. The metallic gold didn't show up well on our rocks so if you can, bring one to try out when you buy. Michaels had sample pens, I don't know if other stores do.

    The only thing I would be concerned about with the paint pen is drying time.  You don't want guests to write on the rock, drop it into the container you are collecting them in, and their message/names get smudged because the paint is still wet.
