Hi Ladies I have posted once or twice on this board before.  However I just got engaged this past weekend so I am sure that I will be asking you alot more questions.

Has anyone ever gone to a wedding or have heard any reviews about the Park Savoy in Florham Park?

I've heard that the put on a beautiful wedding.  But, when I went to visit it was really not my style.  It really feels like someone's home and I just felt like the vibe there was a little strange; almost like it was haunted.  If you're looking in that area try the Park Avenue Club or Brooklake Country Club.  If you need other recommendations let me know.  I combed that area pretty well during my search.

My friend got married there and she loved it.  I was out of the country and could not attend the wedding but she raves about it.

Sure I would love any reccommendations.  I have no idea where to start looking.  I also saw the Park Savoy.  My Best friend got married at the Brooklake so I def have to rule that one out.

I went to a wedding there and thought it was great.  The food was delicious and the grounds are beautiful!  It does look like someone's home, but I thought it was neat because the couple put up pics all around so it looked like their home.

I agree the place looked beautiful. I really would have loved to have our wedding there but they had a high minimum for a Saturday night. We chose the Hamilton park hotel right by in Florham Park and have been so happy with everyone there so far. I have only heard great things about the place as well.

If you have the budget for it, I have also heard wonderful things about the Park Ave club

I can't say enough nice things about the Park Savoy!  We looked there to have our wedding, and the owner is amazing...he has every detail down pat and really knows his stuff.

We didn't wind up choosing the location only because we wanted something less traditional in decor, but I have no doubt that your experience would be wonderful.

    Congrats and happy planning!

I attended a wedding there where my SO was a groom's man. I am very picky about northern NJ wedding locations and honestly don't have any complaints about it! (I'm sure some of you have seen some other posts about locations I did not like! - Locations that are probably considered "popular" on here)

To me, the positives are that it is not a tacky, marble, chandelier-filled ballroom. However, it is still a ballroom. It has a Victorian feel to the entire place, which is nice.  A front room is a sitting room with couches and a fireplace. This couple also had framed wedding pictures of all relatives throughout the spaces.  Cocktail hour was in a separate room, along with being outside on a large deck that overlooked a koi pond and a golf course. It was very pretty for pictures - for both the bridal part and for guests.

Dinner was good. I don't remember it as being "best ever" but portions were not huge (I hate when food is wasted at weddings) and was tasty.  The cocktail hour food was also abundant and very good.

I remember the bride was not pleased completely with her cake because she had asked for it to be one way and looked a different way. As a guest, it was fine, but I just remember her mentioning it at the time.

At the end of the night, I ended up talking to the owners and they were really, really nice. I've never been to a wedding where the owners of the location are on site and talking to guests, so I thought that was kinda cool.

In short - it is still a set wedding place - it is not "totally unique" (as in - it's not a museum turned wedding location, or a barn or whatever totally out of the box location you can think of.)  However, the food was good, the space was open, it was not marble, and overall it was a really, really great wedding.

Bathrooms were upstairs - not a big deal, but just something I remembered.  There was no valet parking that night - or I just didn't use it, but again, just thought I'd mention it. Another wedding had been scheduled for that evening (this was afternoon - early evening) but the other couple canceled so there was no "rush" for them to be kicked out or anything.

This wedding was in mid-late August.

I looked at the Park Savoy for my wedding and it was definitely in the running. My parents and I thought it was beautiful but ultimately it wasn't really my style or what I had envisioned for my wedding. I felt that it may have been too stuffy for our group of friends. I really liked the people who showed us around - photo opportunities are everywhere! I loved the upstairs dressing room but I knew I wouldn't even use it. The bathrooms upstairs were a concern since we did have older guests on our list.
    Good luck!

I was a BM in a Park Savoy wedding.

I wasn't in love with the ballroom.. but I did really like the home-theme of the cocktail room/front sitting room.

The bridal suite was gigantic!! and it had a working fireplace in it.. :)  We practice our walking in stunts in there! :)

The cocktail hour food was delish, the filet mignon at dinner was good (not the most amazing piece of meat, but it was certainly good).

They had a Cheesecake filled wedding cake which was amazing!!!

I also think they are pretty pricey for what you get. Bit it is a 1 wedding @ a time facility..

  • As a finance guy, naturally I took charge of the financial planning for our wedding. Just got engaged in July, and we have already seen much of the top NJ venues, and also have attended many weddings. In my professional opinion, the Park Savoy doesn’t make any financial sense whatsoever. You can get the Pleasantdale Chateau for exactly the same prices that Park Savoy is asking, and if you’ve been doing your homework, you’d know the Pleasantdale blows it away tenfold. First off, Pleasantdale is an actual mansion, where as Park Savoy looks like an old colonial home that could belong to a grandma.

Second, the minute you drive up to the Pleasantdale, you feel like your about enter some place grand, whereas the Park Savoy is right on a road next to SIMILAR HOUSES (it could pass for a funeral home).

And thirdly, if I was going to compare Park Savoy to their sister joint, Nanina’s, Nanina’s is far more fancy and actually cheaper (again, makes no sense, and when I asked why Nanina’s is cheaper they told me it’s due to location).  I was in shock, and to be frank I could care less about that “antique charm” stuff and am trying to convince my fiancé to go with the Grove- the place is pristine and brand-spankin' new and Jimmy Gutentag seemed like my kind of guy, runs a tight ship, but of course I want to make my fiancé happy so I have to entertain venues like Park Savoy and Pleasantdale.  So, in conclusion, if you are about to invest a great deal of money on a wedding and you're like my fiancé who likes that old world charm, go with Pleasantdale because you’re not saving a dollar with the Park Savoy, even though it looks like you did to your guests..

  • Congratulations on your engagement! My friend went to a wedding at the Park Savoy and said it was nice and the food was good. Pleasantdale Chateau and Nanina's are good suggestions too. Not sure about your budget but I would look into all three and then you will have some places to compare. Good luck with your planning!

  • I just went to visit last weekend and fell absolutely in love. Everything there is stunning and their customer service is top notch. They just renovated it 18 months ago so it's recently had a face lift in the ballroom. Grounds are stunning, both the cocktail room and ballroom have an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend it! I'd also recommend working with John; he was a wonderful contact there.
