Bridal store etiquette

Re: Bridal store etiquette

Hello knotties! I've got a question about what to tell bridal stores when I come in to try on wedding dresses. Here is my plan- I'd like to try on several specific dresses, then I will be having a replica made through jasmines bridal. You can save your comments on jasmines bridal and making a replica- I'm a bride on a budget, with expensive tastes. I just want to know how to handle the interactions with the sales lady. Do I lie about my budget? Has anyone else done this? How did you handle the interaction?
    Uhhh what?

Can't you just show a picture of the dress you want to replicate to your seamstress? And I really really hope you aren't buying a knockoff. It's so not worth it.

Have you looked at preowned dress sites? Or even find a trunk sale? Jasmine dresses aren't that outrageously priced.

  • As said previously, your comments regarding buying a replica aren't necessary. I am open to doing a pre-owned dress as well, but I just am not sure how to handle the interaction with the sales personnel at the bridal store... ie I'm going in to try on dresses I have no intention of buying. Ill also be trying on dresses that aren't really in my budget. Does anyone have useful tips?

She means she is going to order a designer dress knock off from jasmines bridal shop in china (a knock off site) after trying on the real designer dress in a high end shop here, not that she wants to buy from the legit jasmine bridal brand in the US.

It because of people like the OP that people aren't allowed to take pics in high-end bridal shops.

  • Btw, OP, you say you have "expensive tastes"--you do know that the knock off you get from china will be an attempt to steal the design of whatever dress you choose, but that the material and workmanship will be significantly inferior?  I've seen threads and threads on wedding bee with girls showing their replica vera wang, etc. dresses and it's quite clear that the materials are not real silk, the draping is not on par with the original, etc.

I have another question. How do you tell the trolls who waste their days spamming on a wedding website, when they probably aren't even engaged... that they are acting like fat cunts?
    Seriously?

Alrighty then. Sorry we posted ideas to help you avoid an awkward conversation with a bridal consultant and to end up with a dress you actually ordered. Good luck on your dress hunt, sweetheart.

ETA: You were also quoted. So deleting your stuff does nothing...unless you'd like to apologize. Then I'd edit my own posts to delete your lovely remarks.

  • Did you decide to try and delete your posts because mommy came into your room?

  • I work in sales. If you came in and told me you that you needed my expertise to find the perfect item for you, needed my opinions and experience, needed me to take time away from other  (paying) customers, but weren't going to buy from me and are instead going to go to a cheap, tawdry, third rate, exploitative competitor, I'd tell you to not let the door hit your ass on the way out.

We are not paid to make you feel special. We are paid for selling. I can help a 100 customers a day find the the perfect thing they're looking for. I don't get paid unless they buy from me.

Op, if you want to do this, you need to lie through your teeth. If you're not comfortable doing that, congrats on being a decent human being.

With the mouth she has already displayed in this short thread, I don't think lying will cause her any problems.
