It's Friday!

Good morning!  This is a P&R cause I'll be working in a different building all day.

It's gorgeous again here, so we'll be hitting up the patio at happy hour.  Then this weekend, we're finally gonna get around to our annual garage cleaning.  Usually we do it in the spring.....  um, yeah, that didn't happen this year, lol.

That's about it from here!

    Good morning!

I'm going to the computer store to pick out my office computer.  This is the first job where I had any say in my computer, it's sort of exciting, even if it's just which Dell model I want.

Yay for Friday! I only have kids at work until 12, and tonight I get to pick my H up from the airport (he's been visiting his brother this week for their annual boys thing).

This weekend should be busy-I already have essays to finish grading and I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house, too. We also have a couple of different social invitations that we need to sort out.

Mica-picking out a computer for work sounds exciting to me.

Docta -- Happy Hour on the patio sounds lovely I'm actually a bit jealous, because 'round here, we can do it again in about October!

TGIFFFFFF so much.  This week has been so long.  These 50 hour work weeks are burning me out! Thankfully next week is the last one.
We have a huge extended family reunion tomorrow. It only happens once every other year (which is ENOUGH for me!)  The wedding list is already huge so most of these people aren't invited but probably are assuming they are, so we anticipate a lot of self-invites tomorrow.  Our themesong of the day will be "we haven't finalized the guest lis yet" (which is thankfully possible in their eyes since we're still 10 months out)

That is so exciting!   I just had a computer on my desk when I started last September.  The new hires this summer/fall get a choice between a mac or a PC. I am soooo jealous!

I am thankful today that my house is still standing and that my DH is still alive.  We are in the middle of random repairs thanks to a tornado at the end of June (not a bad one, but bad enough to cause $20k damage to our house/garage/yard).   Yesterday was fence day. So our house is still standing despite a gas line being hit two feet from the house when a fence guy was digging a more than safe distance from where the utilities guy marked you shouldn't dig (so the utilities guy mismarked/failed to mark all the lines!)

And this weekend marks the beginning of my "use groupons before they expire" marathon.  Tonight- pottery class, tomorrow- gelato making class, Sunday- breakfast and shopping for decorative glass since the glass blowing class is super expensive.

    Happy Friday!!

Mica, you're lucky you get to pick yours!  I have had 4 brand new computers for work in the last year...I have bad luck with Dell Laptops I think.

Ellen -- that's so scary!  When I was a little kid I was TERRIFIED of natural disasters.  I used to walk around with a HUGE bag (the ones from Ikea that are made of tarp-like material) with clothes, my fav toys, etc., in it.  That helped me feel prepared that if there was a flood, fire, tornado, tidle wave, etc., I'd be fine.

I'm getting nervous to meet with my priest for our first pre-cana meeting.  It's not for another 2 weeks, and I'm already scared!  I just hate going into situations that are unknown.  I know the basic idea of how it will go, but every priest is different.  I just hope it goes smoothly and nothing is overwhelming or anything.

Woah, Ellen, I'm glad everything is okay! And glass blowing class sounds pretty awesome! I have no idea what kind of computer(s) I'll have at my new job, but I guess I'll find out in a week!

I was given the option for a new Mac vs. PC.  I love my personal Mac, but I know that there are software incompatabilities sometimes, so I feel obligated to go PC, which means Dell.  :(  I'm still excited, though!

yEAHHHH Friday!  Work is nuts right now... I'm working on 3 projects simultaneously in the same building and covering a bunch of other projects for folks that are off work today.  Can't wait till 5:00!

Tonight is the final push to finish the last 50 thank you notes for wedding gifts... I know... we're super behind.  My husband promised to help out even if it takes him 5 times longer than me to write them.  It will be good to get that chaos off our coffee table and finish cleaning the messy office!

This weekend is the Twin Cities Irish Fair and the archibishop always celebrates an outdoor Mass there on Sunday... so we'll be attending that with my parents, avoiding the fair booths and just going to a nearby Irish restaurant that's cheaper than the fair food for lunch :)

@Ellen...So sorry to hear about all the damage to your property!   We've also had a lot more tornados than normal this year but luckily only have to worry about our apartment building and vehicles.  Have fun with your groupon marathon :)

@Resa... I also hate tornados!!   I sorta did the same thing when I was little with hiding all my favorite books and stuffed animals in the basement bathroom any time we had a tornado warning.

So happy that it's Friday! Every time I even hear the word "Friday" I start singing that silly song in my head....boo :(

It's a beautiful day today. I have no motivation to work; all I want to do is go outside. Watching the boats on the river isn't helping.

@Ellen - That's awful! I hope the rest of re-building/repairing goes smoothly for you. We rarely get tornadoes, but it's still one of my biggest fears! I don't even like it when they test the sirens!

We finished ours about a week before our 1 year anniversary!  Oops.  BUT... we had an insane year. Maybe your husband could address them & stamp them and/or write them out to the people he knows (that's what we did!)

And... if you are looking for something else to do tonight or tomorrow night... our wedding band is playing at that Irish festival!  We saw them last week... and the fiddler mentioned they were going to another festival this weekend, too.  The Tossers- they are kinda like Flogging Molly. Our wedding band wasn't the whole band, just the singer (he plays guitar, too), fiddler, drummer & accordian/tin whistler.  They do session type/acoustic shows once a month or so... so our wedding music wasn't quite as crazy as they can be :)

    Happy Friday all!

Not looking forward to waking up earlier than I do for work to help at the studio tomorrow (I dance hula - my grandmother is my teacher & I alternate with one other girl helping with the kids classes).  Despite the earlier than usual (for me) mornings, I am kinda looking forward to seeing the kids.  It's pretty fun working with them.

Aside from that, LOTS to do again this weekend.  Still trying to get everything all settled and such.

For a Friday, it's been a bit crazy here!  already 11 am and I'm just now having my first cup of tea!  :(

@Ellen - Sorry to hear about the house damage.  Good luck on the continued repairs.  And enjoy all your groupons/classes!

Happy Friday, y'all!  We handed out ninth-grade schedules today (MUCH smoother than tenth-grade day), and I am wiped. out.  FI and I are heading down to good ol' Waco to see his family.  Waco is where I went to college, so I'm always happy to get down there.

We're supposed to be hosting our priest for dinner next week, but he has been slow to respond to my emails. =(

@Ellen, I love tornados, but the damage they do is no joke.  I am happy to hear you are okay and I hope the rest of your clean-up goes well.  We drove through Joplin in June and were just amazed at how much was still in ruins.

Professor - you love tornados?  I don't think I've ever heard anyone but a storm chaser say that!  I've never actually seen one though, so I just think of the movie "Twister" and those tornados freaked me out!!

@Ellen, wow...how scary. I hate it when the weather gets that bad. We're enjoying a lovely little storm here right now...enjoying it because it doesn't include the T-word.

@mica: Mac all the way!!!!! Though the ones at my work are PCs...because I work for the state government and so...

I'm happy because my Cricket Man (that's my FI's nickname) is coming down this weekend!

Just wish he was here now...am a little worried about his driving in this weather. Especially since a few days ago, he noticed he had an insect bite that was painful and beginning to streak up his leg. I was worried, his sister was worried, but you know how men are. Yesterday he discovered the streak had gotten more solid and moved up his leg so he, thank God, decided to go to the doctor (which shows just how he worried he was...you know how those men are, they NEVER go to the doctor). He got a penicillin and a tetanus shot and got some oral antibiotics too, so he's not feeling too swell today. So I pray that God will get him here safely.

    Happy weekend everyone...
