New Jersey

outdoor wedding

Hello everyone, I am new to this and am in need of some help.  My wedding is going to be right after I graduate college, and my parents are paying, they are traditionalists. But my fiancé and I do not want to go too overboard with the budget, we were thinking about having our ceremony and reception in a beautiful historic barn, but are not sure of any in northern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York area, or maybe if someone has another suggestion as to a place kind of like that.  Any help would be amazing, thank you all.

I would try posting this on a local board - girls there may be more helpful! Best of luck!

Since you posted in budget bride I assume you have a tight budget to work with.  It's going to be difficult to find a barn in north Jersey and in your budget.  You'll have a better shot in south Jersey or PA.  Another thing you might want to consider is that if the barn isn't an actual "wedding venue," you'll have to rent tables, chairs, plates, catering, etc., and it can add up.  Good luck!!

I have no idea what an event there would entail, or whether it would accomodate your guest list, but the Raritan Inn in Long Valley has a barn that can be used for events.

Not sure if it's available for events, but I always see pictures of a giant barn at Perona Farms.

Edit: It looks like it might be, although the pictures shows chairs set up with the barn as a backdrop, so I don't know: http://www.peronafarms.com/wedding/ceremony.html

i'm not sure where in NJ you're located - but my friend had her wedding at the Rose Bank Winery in PA and it was SOOO pretty.  she was also on a pretty tight budget.  the winery has a barn which was where the reception was held.  here is a link to their site...trust me...the pictures on the site do it NO justice.  its def worth a visit:
