Hey guys! How was everyone's weekend? I'm currently drinking a pumpkin beer with a cinnamon sugar rim while BF watches football. My wings are in the fridge gettin ready to go into the oven at 8pm exactly, so we can gobble them up while watching Breaking Bad. It's pretty much the most perfect night ever.

Your weekend sounds awesome!

My weekend was alright. I spent a lot of it trying to keep up with the news on the flooding in Colorado. My apartment is fine but parts of my town are really bad. The drive home this morning was terrifying and then I found out the university I work at is closed tomorrow so I didn't actually need to make that terrifying drive home today. But now I'm home and curled up in my blanket and watching movies on Netflix.

Besides the flooding the weekend was pretty boring. We went out for drinks with the crazy pre-planning friend and her BF. There was a lot of bickering between them so that was awkward.

BUT I had a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte and it was amazing

I pretty much live for the time of year when Starbucks releases them

I love pumpkin-flavored things. I think I want to find a recipe for pumpkin souffles and drizzle them with white chocolate or something. YUM.

Your outing with your crazy friend sounds awkward! Although the plus of having crazy friends or friends in bad relationships is that it makes you feel even more awesome about your own relationship than usual! Whenever I'm out with my similarly crazy friend, I think BF become super grateful that I'm fairly normal.

Speaking of my crazy friend, BF and I were out for drinks with her and her BF last night. I was telling her about my Etsy invitation shop plans, and she told me she would never send paper invitations for her wedding, she's only going to do E-vites. This is the girl who wants a $50k engagement ring and wants to have a huge wedding at some fancy ski resort, and....e-vites??!!! Sigh.

Yeah super fancy-shamncy wedding does not really go with e-vites. I'm sure you can find some really nice ones but if you are doing the huge fancy wedding thing why skimp on the invites?

And $50K for an e-ring?! Holy crap!!

Exactly! And yeah, the ring she REALLY wanted is actually about $250k (seriously), but she realized that her current bf would never be able to afford that, so she's "compromising" by wanting him to spend $50k. When I told her I expected my BF so spend at most 2.5k on a ring she told me "you should just tell him he can take out a loan for one, that's what John (her bf) is going to have to do". She also entrusted me with the task of letting him know which ring she wanted. When I told him how much it was, he laughed and said he wouldn't spend more than 2k. I don't think they're near it yet, but I CANNOT WAIT for this proposal to happen. The drama will be epic.

I have no idea how much BF spent on a ring but I doubt it's anywhere near 50K. Where did this idea that men should take a loan out for a engagement ring came from?

I want to rewatch HIMYM. I might do that once I'm done going through Bones again. I like having something on in the background.

And holy crap, if you want a $50k engagement ring, then the only way I can see you doing e-vites for your wedding would be to do the ACTUALLY EXPENSIVE ones. The only people I know who've done wedding e-vites were on a serious budget. Holy crap. Like, yes, I'm all for saving paper, but if you're having a beyond expensive wedding, you might as well send some nice ones on recycled paper and then have a wedding website instead of inserts. Eesh.

Just got home from a stressful family event. Now I have to put together a few slides for a PowerPoint for a class that I haaaate. Ugh.

@Phira - I LOVE Bones! I'm not caught up on the most current season though. I don't have the patience to wait a week between episodes so I just wait until it's on Netflix to catch up.

What class are you putting together a PowerPoint for?

I'm currently trying to put together a summary of the purpose of my thesis to present to members of the department I want to be on my committee and it's making me bang my head against a wall.

Yay Bones! I am getting ready to go out with BF to the place we met, our favorite hookah bar that we still haunt from time to time :-) We are going to go work on homework together and just relax after the flood watches (which are still currently going, but not as severe now). A wet and cold weekend, but on the bright side it was not above 90 degrees! It was nice to have a break from the heat :-P

My area was very fortunate with the flooding. But there are so many people who had a terrible weekend and continue to be in bad predicaments. I am sending my thoughts their way.

50K is a downpayment on a house...I would not be able to justify wearing something that expensive in terms of jewelry, or even with any article of clothing...Hell, I cannot justify spending 50K on anything right now. Well this weekend was certainly a roller coaster filled with drama. If you were looking into my window right now you'd think that I was the stereotypical poster girl example of someone who just got broken up with. I am wearing pjs, wearing my hair in a messy bun, my mascara is running, I am cuddling a tub of ice cream, eating cheetos, and I am trying really hard not to think about my doctor's appointment at 10 AM tomorrow. My FI is currently rubbing my feet, and we are watching some dumb reality show in order to calm our nerves. On another, less intense note: I didn't know that the pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks! I'm psyched. I might have to stop by tomorrow after the appointment, that way I'll have something to look forward to.

Yay KUI! I am drinking water, so as not to impair my ability to get up in five hours. *Sigh*

Agreed that a $50,000 e-ring is crazy. I think if BF spent that much on anything besides a down payment on a house, I would cry. Not in a good way. BTW, @bethsmiles, I caught your wording on your post ("no idea how much BF spent on a ring"). Permission to read into this just a little?

So this weekend I actually made the jalapeno popper stuffed chicken for my mom and BF, and it was bangin'. It was a little spicy for me, but BF was impressed, and I brought some to work for folks to try and they liked it, so it has a future in my home.

After sampling the chicken, BF and I went to a barbecue with some friends. Sadly, none of their girlfriends were there, so I spent the evening with some very opinionated country boys - good thing those guys are like my brothers! Haha, so that was a good evening.

Today, I worked 7a-7p and immediately went to a friend's house to review for our upcoming test. I just got home ten minutes ago and ate dinner. Yeah, I'm exhausted. This week already came up too fast and it hasn't even started yet.

I've already had, like ... 4 pumpkin spice lattes. I really shouldn't keep buying them but they are soooooo yummy.

@bethsmiles We have Hulu+ so I was able to keep up with season 8 of Bones. Season 8 started off a little slow but it was much better than season 7. I haaaaate the Pelant plot line, though!!!

I had to put some slides together for a course on stem cells. I'm the only grad student and I have to present a paper with 3 undergrads. We're the first group to present, and the prof is super disorganized (he doesn't even have a syllabus), so we're honestly not sure how the presentation is going to go. OH WELL, we'll see.

Off to bed!

@Phira - My mom said the same thing about the Pelant plot line! I have hulu+ too but I always forget I have it.

@Ampola14 - haha...I did say spent! Yes BF does have the ring (SQUEE!) but I have absolutely no idea when he is going to propose. I thought maybe on our anniversary but BF's grandpa is coming in that weekend so I'm guessing our plans will revolve around him that weekend - which I'm totally fine with because I'm beyond excited to meet his grandpa, BF talks about him all the time

@bride2b71614 - You definitely need to pick up a pumpkin spice latte! I guess they released it early this year because it's 10th anniversary of having it.

@bethsmiles - your post just made me smile! That is so exciting I wanted to squee aloud with you! BF tricked me into meeting his grandparents! He asked me if I wanted to join his parents for dinner and came to pick me up. We get into the parking lot of the restaurant and he says "by the way, my grandparents are in town" So... with no warning whatsoever I met his mom's parents and his dad's mom. All are super nice people, but a little warning would have been nice ;-) he was afraid I was going to chicken out!

@bethsmiles: Naw, you are rational. You can talk any bsc lady off the crazy train on the NEY boards (I've seen you do it through your posts), so I bet you are going to do fine. "Waiting" sucks, but I bet the proposal is going to be amazing and that you are going to be extremely happy!

I can't even justify wearing a ring more than like $1-2k. I would be SOOO afraid to lose it or have something happen to it. I'm such a klutz. It would just be bad.

Yes! It is awesome. I finished the first season a few weeks ago and was hooked by end the end. I can't wait until they release season 2. Also, I read the book - which is a pretty interesting read although the real Piper Kerman isn't such a great storyteller.

My weekend was kind of blah...

I feel like I'm getting sick, but it's taking its sweet time to destroy me. On Saturday, EVERYTHING ached and I felt weak. On Sunday, that went away but I had stomach cramps and an upset stomach all day, which has continued on today. I'm at work and I'm going to ride it out until it decides to incapacitate me.
