Wedding Woes

Trip recap

All in all it was a fantastic trip.  We all had a blast and DD1 told us she wished she could stay there forever.  Here are a few details:

1.  The drive wasn't too bad.  We drove 13 hours the first day and then it was about 6 hours the next day.  I absolutely loathe the hills of TN.  First, it felt like we were descending into hell.  Then, you've got all these people who drive it everyday blowing past you like a 7% grade is nothing.  I kept seeing tire tracks in the runaway truck lanes on the sides of the roads and looking back to make sure there wasn't one behind us.  I just wanted it to be over.  It was a pretty tense 30 minutes or so.

2.  We stayed at Disney at a value resort, different than last time.  Ours was cute, but we preferred the other one.  We're considering springing for a non-value resort next time (yes, we were talking about "the next time" the whole way home).  :)

3.  DD2 hated the buses.  I think not being in a carseat freaked her out.

4.  The girls were just in 7th heaven the entire time.  They have never liked characters in costume - just two weeks before we left, they wouldn't even get near Chuck E Cheese - but they LOVED them at Disney.  They weren't afraid and they darn near filled up their autograph books.  DD1 did refuse to talk to Gaston, but DD2 had no problem getting her picture with him.  :)

5.  Son rode all of the adult rides 4-5 times each, I think.  He had just as much fun as the girls.  It was nice to see that he wasn't "too cool" to show that he was having a blast.  A couple times he gave DH and I big hugs and thanked us for bringing them to Disney.

6.  DD1 was chosen to be the Big Kahuna at one of the waterparks.  She got a Big Kahuna medal and we got a VIP area and free locker for the day.  She got to open the park by talking on a walkie talkie and we were the first ones in the water.  She loved it.

7.  The weather was fantastic.  It rained the day we got there while we were eating but it stopped before we were finished.  It lightly rained again on Thursday for a couple hours, but it was no big deal.  The rest of the week was nice and warm - in the 90s.  It was hot, but not unbearable.  Also, there are so many indoor rides/shows that if we needed to cool down, we'd just go inside to do something.

8.  Our longest wait to do anything was 25 minutes to see Ariel.  That was it.  We got to walk right on most rides and other wait times were 5-10 minutes.  It was awesome.  We made excellent use of our Fast Passes for the big rides and the popular kid rides/meet and greets.  Also Rider Swap is amazing.  Son and DH could go on a ride while I waited with the girls and then Son and I could get right on without waiting in line again while DH waited with the girls.

9.  I've been uploading pictures to Shutterfly all day and last night.  I have 947 from my camera, some on my phone and 100 on the photo pass card (though I can't really count the photo pass card pics - they want 14.95 per download per picture or 169 for a disc.  not going to happen).

Re: Trip recap

  • Sounds awesome!!  I can't wait to go.
  • LOL @ #4.  I don't think you're supposed to like Gaston. :)
#5 is so sweet.  What a good boy you have!
Can't wait to see the pictures!
  • That sounds like a great family trip and one you will always remember.

  • I'm glad you all had a great time :)

Did you get to eat at Be Our Guest?!

  • We didn't, ali.  I was too late in trying to make reservations and the place was always packed.
  • Oh darn, next time!  We stood in line for 30 minutes to get in during the quick service lunch, I was determined :)

  • The line was always across the bridge and wrapped around the corner.  There was no way we were going to try waiting with the kids.  I will definitely be better about reservations next time.  The good thing is that the girls didn't really know what they were missing.
  • That sounds awesome. You also picked a good time to go. Right after school starts in FL, the place is EMPTY. It's usually still too hot for us to go, but DH is actually taking Baby A on Friday night for the Halloween Party.

I'm so glad your kids enjoyed. They're at great ages for the parks and there is something for everyone.

We've never done the waterparks, but I'd like to try them sometime. Maybe when Baby L is around 2 or so. We usually go in the winter, so it's typically too cold for that. Although when it's 60 degrees outside, we still see people in the pool. I get that it's heated, but you have to get out at some point. Brr...
