Bed and breakfasts!

BF and my 6 month anniversary is in November and we decided as something cute, we wanted to get away for a night or two and find a bed and breakfast in the area. Do any of you guys know any good B&Bs in the Berkshire area of MA (Stockbridge or so), anywhere in CT or lower VT? I'm working on Googling and looking around, but didn't know if any of you girls had been to any in the area.

  • We have quite a few ladies from those areas so I'm sure you'll get some good responses from them.

Also, check out TripAdvisor. I generally won't book a hotel without checking out the reviews there first.

  • Ok yea I'm thinking I really like the Stockbridge/Lee area. BF and I are both hikers and it would be early November like the 2nd or 3rd so plenty of time before the snow.

  • Also Groupon and Living Social has some awesome B & B packages for the New England/Berkshires area.

  • That is cute :) I have no idea about that area, but I will say that DH and I (back when he was just BF) stayed at a B&B in the Finger Lakes for 2 nights. We were the youngest people there by at least 20 years (and probably the youngest guests they'd had maybe ever). It was weird.
  • Oh also, I'm not sure if you're set on the B&B idea but H and I went away last month for the weekend just to get away from everything and we ended up renting a cute cabin in the woods for less than what we would have paid at a hotel. We used HomeAway and there's also VRBO.

This! DH and I booked a cabin for a great rate over Labor Day weekend using HomeAway and VRBO. It saved us some money because we were able to bring and cook our own food. It also gave us more privacy - I've heard stories from other couples like cschiano's about feeling ackward as a young(er) couple at a B&B.
  • Hmm some good ideas. I gotta keep doing research. It's also a good point about the age thing. BF and I are 22/21.

  • I'm kinda glad some other ladies share my feelings about B&Bs. The one we went to two years ago had the whole communal dining and shared bathroom thing. I didn't really like getting woken up by breakfast going on downstairs at like 7am. The idea is very cute, just depends on how much privacy you want. Like I could not imagine having sex there. No way. I like all-inclusives and vacation rentals.
  • Thanks all you ladies for your advice! We just booked a room for two nights at the White House Inn in Wilmington, VT thanks to an awesome LivingSocial rate! Complimentary bottle of wine included along with breakfast. :D The countdown begins!

  • I just saw this thread, and was going to post about that exact Living Social deal that you got! Have fun! :)
