1st Dance a Fast, upbeat song?!

Hi Ladies! I need help.... well, my FI does.

We are using the intro of Elvis' version of "Can't Help Falling in Love" (basically just the opening line) and then taking the remaining rest of the song from UB40's fast and upbeat version! I am super excited to throw everyone off with the slow sappy first 35 seconds and then switching into a fun fast-paced gear.... but my FI is terrified because he says he doesnt know how to dance to the quick one! I will be completely honest.... the guy has no rhythm at all, and I was nervous enough about him slow dancing haha. We both love this idea but need help for him!  Choreographer is both not an expense we can afford and I don't want it to be corny and "show-like" either. I try to dance with him but he just can't grasp it :P

Any of you ladies dance (to the beat) of a fast or uptempo song?  If you have a video clip or youtube link that would be amazing!

  • If you want to have a choreographed dance but can't afford a choreographer, than perhaps you could "copy" from a video on YouTube or something.  But please, not anything too cheesy.

  • We danced to "I Was Made For You" by She & Him, which I think is about the same tempo as the UB40 version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njFuy7jCirE

We danced in the same way we would have to a slow song, just faster (my right hand in his left hand, my left hand on his shoulder, his right hand at my waist, stepping around the dance floor, if that makes sense?). My husband also has pretty terrible rhythm so we danced to it around the house a bit so he could figure it out. We didn't choreograph anything, just practiced till he was comfortable.

I definitely dont want it choreographed or choregraphed looking at all, just maybe something he can view to get the vibe of what we should look like... or what HE should look like haha. LOVE that .gif!! :)

This is probably what we will have to do, too :)

  • I think it worked really well! Dancing with him was actually my favorite part of the night, which I was surprised at. Normally I'm kinda embarrassed because he's so awkward, but I didn't care one tiny bit. It felt exactly like this, but faster! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw6ksk5AzZo You'll be fine! :)
