Mums in August?

We JUST started planning but are hoping for an August 10, 2013 wedding. My favorite flower is mums. Is that too much of a fall flower for August? I absolutely do NOT want roses but anyone have ideas of how to use mums with other fall/summer flowers?  I'm thinking for colors to be dark purple and peach or oranges. Something that uses fall and summer colors. It's going to outside in a gazebo and the reception inside.

Ideas??

Nope! It sounds perfect for August, I totally associate August with mums because that's when my mother always planted them. You could maybe use a variety of mums and colors to get a pretty bouquet, I've also seen a picture of ones with something that looked like daisys. We're using fugi mums and hydrangeas. Carnations might be a good combo too.

  • I'm getting married in August and my florist actually reccomended green Kermit mums to break up the cream flowers in my bouquet. Mums will be perfect! I'm also using purple stock and hydragena's instead of roses.

Mums are used all year around.  You might want to mix them with Dahlias.
