Capella Pedregal

Anyone stay here for their honeymoon? I'm drooling over the thought of it, but it's insanely expensive and my fiancé isn't sure it's worth the price.

Thoughts?

Re: Capella Pedregal

  • I'm not personally familiar with this location, but we stayed at Capella Ixtapa a couple years ago and had the most amazing experience. The service level provided by Capella hotels is wonderful! Very personal without being obtrusive. We happened to ask if they had a particular mexican dish on their menu, and even though they didn't, the next day they voluntarily went out to the market to pick up all the ingredients for a custom meal that evening. Impeccable service and amazing food! The spa was awesome too, one of the best couple's massages we've ever gotten. We would both stay there again in a heartbeat! I remember hearing about Pedregal during our stay and heard nothing but great things. Totally worth the money!

    Great, thanks!!!
  • Capella is AMAZING.  We did 5 days for our honeymoon.  It cost a fortune, and was worth every every penny.  If you can swing it, do it!  Private plunge pool, amazing service, great food.  We got a package that included breakfast, and we typically ate fairly late and there was tonnns of food, so we were good until dinner, which saved on food a bit.  Drinks are pricey but delicious, and you get a bottle of tequila on arrival, which helps a little.  Spa was the best I've ever been to.  I think we did one category up from the base level of room and it was totally fine.  I'd probably try to get a top floor room if you can, for the most sun on the plunge pool.  We went in January so we saw lots of whales from our room.  It's definitely quiet and not a party scene.  And it's pricey, so it's a bit of an older crowd.  This might also have been because it was January and so not a big honeymoon time of year.  For us, 5 days was plenty.  By the afternoon of our last day I was tired of paying a zillion dollars for every drink, and we were ready to move onto the next (way more modest) phase of our honeymoon!  Let me know if you have more questions--we really loved it there.

Thank you for the insight! I'm definitely leaning towards splurging now. If you could, would you mind terribly letting me know what the next phase of your honeymoon was? Perhaps I could break mine up similarly so as to save costs, but still get the experience of Capella hotels.

    Thanks again!

Oh sure.  I knew we'd get bored staying in one place the whole time, but I wanted to take a fairly long trip, so we decided on three places.  We were traveling from CT, so flew to Cabo after the wedding, did 5 nights, then flew to Los Angeles and drove to Palm Springs.  Which is sort of random, but DH and I had always wanted to check it out.  We spent a few days there, then drove out to Vegas to cap off the trip.  We love Vegas, so we knew that if we were going west for our Honeymoon that we wanted to stop there.  We then flew home from Vegas.  Again, it was January, so all these desert destinations made sense.  Palm Springs and Vegas in the summer would be 100+ and kind of miserable!  We had a great time, but I know Vegas isn't everyone's idea of an awesome honeymoon.  But I thought our trip was a great combo of "typical" honeymoon in Cabo with luxury and relaxation, and then a little more activity with our roadtrip and then Vegas.
  • That's awesome! I'm glad you had fun and thanks again for your advice!

We decided to go ahead and book last night. We're doing 2 nights at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in San Jose del Cabo and then the next 4 in Cabo San Lucas at Capella Pedregal. Could not be more excited!
