Decision to be made - photographer for a strip photo tour - Bently & Wilson or Keith Kaplan??

Evening ladies- need your fabulous advice again. Been in contact with both Todd and Keith and both seem great - decision needs to be made - who to go with for our strip photo shoot post ceremony?

Todd - 4 hours for $548, we need to organise transport as well and provides pictures in 3 colour ways

Keith - 4 hours for $475 with transport included and 5 colour ways.

I was about the book Todd and then came across Keith - not having to pay for transport is a big plus - would be $230 for 3 hours with presidential limo (first hour would be ceremony pictures and we would drive ourselves - Groom's request to drive his corvette hire car!)

Obviously I want great photos as these are our lasting memories - had anyone booked / used either of these? I need votes each way - please help I am a terrible decision maker!

thank you x

  • Ive got Todd booked for my entire wedding day however Keith Kaplan is well reviewed and the included transport sounds like an absolute winner to me.

  • Thanks Missmo - just been on both their galleries and much prefer the style of Todd's photos - some on Keith's are a bit funny posed (legs akimbo, awkward poses, look a bit dated)

Yet I look at Todd's gallery and feel classic style, think I will stick with him - you can let me knowhow your photos turn out!

    anyone else got a view?
  • As a bride with neither of these photographers booked I can try and give you my unbiased (but slightly uninformed view) if it helps. I have seen great (no, scratch that, AWESOME) reviews for both Todd and Keith, and like certain aspects of both of their photography styles. I was put off by some of Keith's posed photos and some of the cheesy photoshopping (but would assume you get the raw photos as well as the photoshopped ones), and whilst I like Todd's style as well I keep seeing uneven/wonky photos of his that brides have posted on here which would really frustrate me if they were my photos (I know thats easily fixed in iphoto or something but I would expect it to be already done!).

Not to throw a spanner in the works, but I have Joey Allen booked for my wedding. His photography style was my preferred of all those I looked at and he has very reasonable rates, and his own transport.

  • I can't make decisions! that doesn't help me....only joking!

I will have a look at Joey Allen - I can be quite fussy so cheesy poses and wonky shots would annoy me - what made you choose Joey?
  • I have Todd booked, but as far as transportation, have you looked into a SUV, it is much less expensive and easier to get in and out of.
  • Okay, let me throw my two cents in here! You should know I am using a totally different photographer. Personally, I think that price shouldn't be the biggest determining factor when picking a photographer. To me, it is all about what style of photography you like and also a personality that you click with and feel comfortable with them taking your pictures.
  • We originally had Todd booked but changed our date...he wasn't available so we booked Keith. They are both great as far as communication goes.
  • I also booked Joey Allan. I loved his portfolio and his price was right.  I looked into Keith but I was weary of the reviews. Every single review was the same on every site I looked at. It just struck me as odd. I also agree with the price, get something in your budget but don't book someone on price alone. You want your big day to captured perfectly the way you want.

    Good luck!!

  • Im booked with Todd. We looked at Keith but we both decided we liked the photos in Todd's gallery better :)

  • @manchester21 Joey has a great eye for catching dramatic posed shots, but also has a more photojournalistic style. I just fell in love with his whole portfolio. Many of the brides I've spoken to who have used Joey have commented on his ability to capture all the right moments, including those the bride and groom themselves weren't a part of, so they were able to look back on those.

Basically, he is just totally our type of photographer, check out his work: http://joeyallenphoto.com/portfolio/ and apologies for the extra decision but I agree with previous posters that you need to pick someone who is going to take the kind of photos you want. So check out as many portfolios as you can that are within your budget :)

  • Thanks all-I agree not all about price and have been looking at galleries and picture styles. I think Keith is a little bit cheesy poses and some of the pictures aren't very flattering. I have contacted Joey Allen and also found top banana photographers that have amazing photos of weddings, one at Graceland Chapel where we are getting wed! I have contacted them as well and the pictures are beautiful-modern and discreet. So I'm now between original decision of Todd, waiting to see what Joey can do and then Laura at Top Banana. I'm sure that either of the three will be great but Laura had some great street photos that my FI would really like, he prefers gritty raw locations. Anyone used Top Banana? Please can anyone who posted have a look for me and see what you think? Much appreciate xx x
  • I LOVED Laura @ Top Banana's style but she was out of my price range, so we're going with Todd. We felt he was the best within our budget.
  • We used Todd for our photos last June. I do not recommend. We booked him because because of the price and we only needed him for two hours. All reviews I read were good.  I am disappointed with many of our photos. They do not feel very professional to me. I will attach some of the pics for you. The reason I am back on the knot now is because we are going back to Vegas for our two year anniversary and I want to get pictures taken again so I'm trying to do some research for a better photographer. Hope this helps.

  • I agree with the post above , I've never been in contact with b&w but after seeing many pictures on here I've always thought they looked very amateurish. I don't pretend to know anything about photography just my two cents that I've never been keen on the photographs I've seen.

I agree with @j9lawrence it depends what style you like and what's important to you :)

Photography is super important to us and we've hired a photographer from LA and are spending more on him than pretty much anything else, but for us it's worth it!  I didn't find any Vegas photographers that I liked.  That's not to say they're not any good, they just weren't what we were looking for.

prinzssbride :(  That's a great idea though to get some great anniversary pics done!
