Sunglasses for outdoor wedding?

One of our favors may be customized sunglasses for our outdoor wedding.  Have any of you ordered these before?  Best place to get them?

Thanks

I think most people have their own sunglasses and are quite particular about the style he/she wears.

I'd save your $$ for other areas of your wedding.

I have to agree with this.  However if you decide to go forward with it, I'm sure someone will have a suggestion.

  • If it's sunny, people who want sunglasses will bring them. If it's supposed to be sunny and hot on your wedding day, maybe you could put that money toward a tent for shade or fans. I think if you do this, you will end up with a ton of leftover sunglasses and you will feel that you wasted your money.

  • I'd try Oriental Trading.

  • when its sunny, i bring my own sunglasses. you also never know who needs prescription lenses. honestly, i would put the money towards something else (or don;t spend it) as this may be a waste.
  • I have received sunglasses as favor before and we had a good time wearing them and taking silly photos. I keep them in the car for emergencies or if someone else forgets their pair. Favors are one of those things that you can't please everyone and everyone has a different opinion.

I second Oriental Trading. I would skip the personalization on the glasses themselves - instead do a note that one of the temple arms slide through with something cheesy like "Our Future's So Bright Together - We Gotta Wear Shades" ;-p

  • I agree with the others, this is a waste of money. I don't see a benefit as a guest and would not take a set.

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • I would suggest saving your money as well. However, if you decide to do it then I would buy a bunch from the dollar store rather than buying pairs with your names printed on them.

  • Prescription lenses are a good point. I wouldn't do this, either, but if you do, definitely don't personalize them.
  • If it is sunny out then I will already be wearing my own sunglasses.  I suggest using the money towards having bottled water or some other cold beverage available for when your guests arrive.

  • Ditto PPs.  It's a thoughtful idea, but I don't know a single person that doesn't own sunglasses, so I'd suggest putting that money into something your guests will be able to use.
  • All the guests know it's an outdoor wedding, right? Judging by my binge-watching Four Weddings, guests don't always know the setting and may leave their sunglasses in the car (especially if they're carrying a little evening purse).... forget a jacket... wear spiky heels in the muddy grass..... I'd appreciate the gesture. Maybe have just a few spare pairs on hand and definitely make sure it's known far and wide that your wedding is, for example, in a grassy field facing westward....!

  • I agree on finding different favors.  I highly doubt that I'd use a pair of cheep, customized sunglasses even if someone handed them to me.  I prefer my own and would leave my favor behind. You'll waste your money on this for the most part.  Sorry.

  • If I were a guest I probably would take the sunglasses since they were a favor and given as a gift to the guests, however I think something that would benefit the guests more would be fans if it's hot out. Anyway, if they're wearing sunglasses they may not be able to see the ceremony as well?
  • As someone who wears glasses and prescription sunglasses, I wouldn't be able to use them. But I agree, if you're going to get them, don't personalize. I can't imagine anyone wanting to wear them personalized any time after your wedding.

Save your money and skip it.  I will have my own sunglasses.  Unless you're passing out designer sunglasses, I can't see many people taking them.  And whatever you do, don't do anything personalized!
  • Skip it and save the money. The best favors, these days, are edible.
  • Giving out sunglasses would be okay, but don't personalize them or use them as "favors."
  • What do you mean by "customized"?
  • I have to go with the PP's on this one.  As someone who wears glassesI would have no use for the ones you are offering.  I feel your best bet would be to offer information to your guests about it being an outdoor venue (hint hint you might want to bring your own sunglasses) and then use the saved money towards something else.  I am partial to some cold drinks awaiting your guests!

*Also if you are doing programs you can turn them into a cute fan too!  I love getting the most for my time and money!
