So... I am planning to wear this dress -

I know it's far less quality or cost than one would normally pay for a dress... But we're doing this wedding stuff quite informally with a frew friends in the front yard on a crazy small budget. The bonus is that I actually LOVE the dress but the only thing is that I'm 5'11" and it's maybe a bit too short on me. The model in this picture is 5'9" so the dress probably grazes the top of my ankles on me.
Obviously it can't be altered so it's LONGER... Is it the worst thing to wear a maxi-dress style that doesn't touch the ground? What type of shoes should I wear, if so? I notice that the model wears some skyscraper heels and it actually looks OK with the dress so far off the ground, but my groom is an inch taller than me and I wouldn't like to tower over him TOO much.
Any advice? I was hoping for an open toed kitten heel (something like this:

Thanks!
