So I've been married almost two months and just noticed my enhancer is missing a diamond already.. Seriously?? Beyond pissed right now. Has anyone else ever had diamonds falling out or missing so soon?

  • Has it been sized? That can mess with the ability of those little prongs on the shank to hold the stones.

  • A girlfriend of mine has a Tiffany ring with diamonds all the way around and she said it was the biggest waste of money since they fall out all the time. Sorry it's happening to you.
  • no it wasn't sized it for pretty well with my ering which is sized.

The diamonds don't go all the way around. It stops right at the  sides and is a regular band the rest of the way.

They are fixing it and I should have it back by Oct.1st

  • Yes it happened to me, I took it in and it was covered under warranty. Fixed in a day NBD.
  • Yup.  It happened once in my E ring less than a month after we were engaged, and once in my wedding band 2 months after our wedding.  The shop fixed them for free both times, which they should have.  Yeah, it's a pain, but it also gives me the opportunity to make sure the big stone is secure.  We have them insured, and I'm trying not to be paranoid.  My rings are Verragio, if that matters.

    Meddied since 6/15/13!
  • Yes.  My e-ring lost a side stone less than a day or two after FI gave it to me.  Took it to the jeweler and they fixed it on the spot, no questions asked.  They weren't even surprised.  What size is your ring?  My jeweler said this is a more problem with smaller ring sizes since it's harder to secure stones on tighter circles.
Don't worry guys, I have the Wedding Police AND the Whambulance on speed dial!
  • When FI and I were shopping for wedding bands, Jarred (yes, He went to Jarred) noticed that one of the stones was loose so they fixed it before it came out.  The warranty says I have to bring it in every 6 months for inspection/cleaning or else they won't cover lost stones.  Believe me, it's on my schedule.
  • This happened with my engagement ring. I have a three stone engagement ring (family ring.. my great grandmother's)... and when we picked out our wedding bands, I had my wedding bands special made to fit my engagement ring. Three weeks later, one of my side stones fell out of my engagement ring. Very unfortunate, but thank goodness we had insurance! It really broke me because it was a stone from my great grandmother's ring, but it turned out fine and was a smooth replacement process. Now I am going to be extra extra careful. I think the ring size was initially a size 8, and I'm about a size 3.. when they sized it, that could've caused problems too along with the fact that it's definitely an old ring.

I have a friend who has had to replace her wedding band TWICE for that reason.  She had a channel setting and the stones were always falling out.  She has tiny hands and tiny fingers so that might have something to do with it.

This happened to me once before too.  I was engaged to someone else and called it off, but the stones in my setting were always coming loose. In the five months we were engaged, I think I wore my e-ring about 8 days because of the time it spent getting shipped out to be fixed... with a turn around of a minimum 4 weeks each time!
  • My host sister had one missing in december after getting married in june... so this happens...

when we bought our wedding rings in august the sales person advised me not to use any diamonds because it's easier to widen the ring in the future if you don't use any diamonds and as my fingers are tiny it might be hard to secure them properly...
  • My engagement ring was bought at Kay jewelers. Within a month of me having it 2 diamonds fell out. When I went there they told me to not wear it in bed, in the shower, while taking on and off my cloths, or when it will touch anything that would snag it! I was so mad!

How did they expect you to function on a daily basis? What do they expect, you not to wear your ring ever?
  • I lost 6 diamonds in my e ring during the first 6 months I had it. They said it was due to being resized. They finally had to recast my ring. I was without it for 6 weeks.
