Argentina?

Has anyone been to Argentina for their honeymoon or vaca? I would love hotel/resort recommendations or recommendations in general. We are not set on it as a destination but I would like to learn more about it as a possibility. Thanks!

Re: Argentina?

  • I went last August and had an amazing time. We actually just stayed in Buenos Aires and really explore the city, but if I could do it again I would venture over to Uruguay for a few days (it's a short ferry ride) and, if I had two weeks, would do the wine region or Patagonia. We got an amazing packag on AA Vacations (flight direct from JFK plus 7 nights hotel for 1400$)-we stayed at Mate Carlos and found the staff to be super accommodating-they always had great dinner recommendations, always were willing to book reservations for us, and found us a wine opener (we usually did happy hour in our room). We also loved having breakfast included every morning
  • We are going to Argentina (and two nights in Chile) for our HM in November.  We're going to Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Mendoza and Santiago.  I've been researching exhaustively since we decided on this destination and have everything (including hotels, tours, most dinners) all set and reserved.  We're using my Starwood and Marriott points, so all hotels are $110/night (except in Mendoza, where's it $65/night, and the Ritz-Carlton is free).  The flights were expensive ($1,200 each), but we're using my upgrades so it's not a bad deal for first/business class.

We chose Argentina because I fell in love with South America while visiting Brazil last year, and it seemed to have a good mix of adventure/culture/amazing food.  With the exchange rate on the blue market, it is also quite affordable -- much more so than Norway and Greece, which we had also been considering.  I've heard good things from my several friends who have visited....we can't wait!

    Buenos Aires:
    hotel: Park Tower
tours: Biking Buenos Aires, Graffitimundo street art walking tour
meals: iLatina (closed-door restaurant), Aramburu (molecular gastronomy), Parilla Pena (local steakhouse)

    Iguazu Falls:
hotel: Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa (couples massage is on the agenda!)
tour: self-guided through national park, boat ride under falls

    Mendoza:
    hotel: Sheraton Mendoza Hotel
tour: private tour of Uco Valley wineries
meals: Chef Mun's Weekly Dinner Party, cooking class at Finca Adalgisa

    Santiago
    hotels: W Santiago, Ritz-Carlton
tour: self-guided using itinerary developed through NY Times/Trip Advisor/blog recs
    meals: Bocanariz, Astrid y Gaston
  • @NEtime thank you so much! I would love to hear how your trip goes in November!
