Wedding Party Gifts

How much does one spend on each person in the wedding party?? We have purchased gifts but want to make sure we are on the right path. Thanks

Re: Wedding Party Gifts

  • Spend what you can afford. It shouldn't be the monetary value that counts.

  • I second what @PDKH said. Spend what you can afford. It's really the thought that matters.
  • The answer is what you can afford and want to give.

    We're at the $40-$50 mark

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • Agree with PPs.

$40-50 is about what we  are planning on spending.

  • Spend what you can afford and think they would like to receive.

What I have spent on the bridesmaids is much higher than what is posted, but they were very involved in planning a shower, gave an extremely generous group gift and many then gave additional shower or engagement gifts on top of that. I wanted to let them know I truly have appreciated all that they have done for me and understand that they have been spending a lot of money to be a part of our event. (And a few of them also have children in the WP as either FGs or RBs, so they have additional expenses with that as well. Of course the children are getting their own gifts, but the parents are obviously involved.)

It really depends on your personal financial situation, your relationship with the girls, what you would normally give each other for gifts, and what you feel they would love. There is no wrong or right amount.

  • Just to throw a wrench in, our budget per wedding party member ended up being around $250-$300 each when all was said and done as we also paid for attire (not a "gift" but a financial purchase they didn't need to make).

More important is that the gift is something that will be appreciated and is geared to the individuals.

  • I spent about $125 per bridesmaid. They threw a beautiful and very generous shower and I wanted to repay them a bit.
  • I'm spending around $60-$75 each. Like Zo, I had fabulous showers thrown by them and feel they 'deserve' something special.
  • It really depends on what you can afford.

I got my girls Pandora Bracelets, with three charms on each.  They cost me about $250 each.

The groomsmen got watches that were in the $200-300 ballpark.

The parents got hand stitched handkerchiefs that said something personal on each.

The officiant (a woman) also got a Pandora bracelet, which was about $200.

One of the readers (DH's aunt), also got a hand stitched handkerchief.  The other reader (my cousin) got the Naked 2 Palette from Urban Decay.  I was going to get her a Kindle, but then I thought that'd be too much.

Also doing Pandora for my girls, coming to about 100 for each of them (starting them with 1 charm and a leather bracelet)

  • FI got his groomsmen -- all of them big beer fans -- bottle openers with their monograms on them.

We also got my brother, a ceremony musician and reader, that.

I'm getting my BMs jewellery sets (not to be worn in the wedding), but each is different, and matches the individual person's personality. I'm also writing them each a heartfelt note.

I got a necklace for my cousin, who's a reader, and a saint's medallion for the cantor, who's also a family friend.

I have no idea what FI's going to get the other reader; I might end up being in charge of that one!

Appreciate all the input. Thank you!
II'm spending a little more then average; Approx $200-$400 as my wedding party are selflessly spending  quite a bit to fly out to our destination wedding plus paid for there hotel and gowns.
I got each girl a Tory Burch make up bag and made a "bridesmaid survival kit" with things they may need on the day of, each are getting a Tiffany & co Key chain and Tag Bracelet. Along with a personalized tote, a voluspa Candle. My MOH who is also my only sister is getting a pair of sunglasses she's been dying for! Groomsmen are getting a Tiffany & co money clip and cufflinks.
I think I did OK? I hope they like it all.

I guess my only concern is the Groomsmen gifts. Do they wear french cuff dress shirts a lot? Do they all use money clips instead of wallets?

I'm not going to touch the "survival kit" for the bridesmaids, since it appears your other gifts are very nice.
