Sick parent - last minute video? live stream?

We're getting married in 9 days (9/28) at The Platinum Hotel.

Yesterday my FI's mom went to the hospital and was diagnosed with gallstones. The doctors said she's too sick to travel from Iowa to Las Vegas.

Unfortunately Platinum doesn't have a chapel with live streaming ... anyone have any ideas about how we could record the event so she doesn't feel like she totally missed it?

Re: Sick parent - last minute video? live stream?

  • are you allowed a videographer in the chapel? (or just a guest with a video camera)
  • I'm so sorry to hear that.  Do you guys have iPhone/iPads?  You could facetime so she could see it live.

I haven't done much research on photographers yet, but I'm sure some also offer videography, you could explain your situation and ask them to upload it ASAP.
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this!

Have someone in the front row Facetime it! Or just have someone record it on their camera. At least in snippets depending on the length.

    Good luck!

  • Hey guys,
After finding a generous cousin who offered us his camera (great back-up plan) ...
I reached out to our DJ (All Night Long) and I think they're gonna give us a break on videography due to the sad nature of our situation. Phew!
We'll probably also try to facetime ... the venue has free wifi, but we won't know how we get there how fast it is. We have our walk-through/rehearsal on Wednesday, so we'll give it a trial run.

    Thanks for all your help!
  • Hope the wifi goes OK for you!  We're going to be trying a similar thing in April next year at Springs Preserve so my Dad can see the ceremony but we'll get a friend to film it as a back up too just in case.  It was also suggested to me by @vegasgroom that if the wifi wasn't good enough for facetime/skype you could record it, then have someone take the device back to a hotel room to upload it after the ceremony before the reception using the hotels internet so it's ready for your FI's mom to view with not much of a delay :)
  • That's a great idea! Last night we tried to download a TV show and it took 8 hours, so that's probably the more likely scenario. Thanks!
