Father of the bride/groom to match?

My dad indicated a desire to buy the same suit as my FI and groomsmen will wear. Is it typical for the father(s) to match the males of the wedding party? The groomsmen are wearing grey suits.

  • They can or not. No big deal either way.

No one will care, so you shouldn't either. Wearing the groomsmen gray suites will look fine. Whatever suit he already owns will look fine.

  • Your father can wear whatever he would like. If he wants to match the groom and GM, then that is fine. If he prefers to wear a suit that's a different cut or color, that's fine too.

  • Our fathers wore tuxes to match the formality of the groomsmen, but just a different color vest.
  • They can match or coordinate. If he gets the same tux, then I would consider getting him a different color vest from the other guys, somethin special for him
  • Either way. Both our fathers wanted to go with tuxes to match the groomsmen. I thought it would be nice to have the vests in a different color but nobody else liked that idea so it's all gonna be the same except for FI.
