Benachi House - Who did you use for music?

Any past or future Benachi House brides/grooms that can recommend a band or DJ used that was able to work with the 60 decibel limit?

Re: Benachi House - Who did you use for music?

  • Any DJ can stay in that limit all they have to do is change the volume control. I would not suggest a live band.

We had no issue with a string trio on the front porch for the ceremony and no problem during the second line but as soon as Rebirth started blowing for cocktail hour, the hired security guard was asking them to tone it down. He had to ask our DJ a few times too when the reception started. It wound up working for us because we had a very laid back vibe to the whole event.

I will be honest, this is the only thing that I was annoyed with about our wedding and had I known how low it would be at the time we started planning, I may have picked another venue.
  • We've played there a couple times without any problem.

  • Be careful with the Benachi House my friend used them and we could not hear the music because of the sound limit.  Its only like 10 decimals so her reception technically did not have any music.  Unless your DJ can provide speakers to set up all around the grounds I wouldn't recommend it.

  • The limit is actually 60 decibels. We're thinking about a tent with 2side panels to work as a barrier for the band and dancing. ZeroOrchestra, where did you have your band/DJ set up? To the right if you're facing the backyard or to the left by the guesthouse? We're thinking the right on the new slab to project away from Tonti Street to help with the noise as well.
  • Yep our DJ was set up to the right facing away from Tonti and the brick patio was our dance floor. We had some tables surrounding it and then our dinner tables were over by the fountain and around the other cemented area. We used the gazebo for the sweetheart table and did the cake cutting inside in the parlor.
  • ZeroOrchestra, do you mind sharing who you used as a DJ?
  • We used Ron Folse at New Orleans Top DJ. We really just needed a PA system and someone to press play and announce the first dance, we made our own playlists. I wouldn't recommend him if you need someone with personality or to keep your party going as he was a bit awkward. But if your needs are minimal he is extremely reasonable price wise, I think we paid less than $400.
  • Thanks for the info!
