how many chairs

We are having an outside wedding at FI family farm. We are inviting about 215 or so people (not sure on the exact number yet). There will be 14 in the wedding party plus FI and I, so we won't need chairs. Does 200 chairs sound like an okay number or too many? TIA

Re: how many chairs

  • 200 chairs sounds good as long as you're including the entire WP in the 215. Just make sure you have a chair for every person & you're good!

I'd suggest you have more chairs than the number of guests you have coming so couples / families / groups don't have to split up.  You don't want that guest you've only met once and have no real connection with having to take the last seat up beside your mother because every other chair was taken do you?  We had 70 guests (including the wedding party) and had at least 85 chairs set out which worked perfectly.

  • Your rental company may let you release chairs closer to the date. We reserved the same number as we are inviting, but many will likely not come as they are OOT guests. When we get RSVPs back, we can release the chairs we won't need, and only pay for the ones we do.
