Sharing price info for The Gershon Room, The Society Room & The Riverview

I've looked at them all 2 weeks ago. The Society Room is the most expensive. Their cheapest rate is $99 pp. Only 1 wedding is held there at a time, you get a tasting, bridal sute, cake included...paking may be iffy. They only designate 1 spot for every 4 guests. People would need to car pool. I think it's a bit on the small side and I am only expecting 125 guests. It's dark in there and my FI jokingly calls it a man cave! :)  Not your typical venue which is why I fell in love with it.

The Riverview is your very typical ballroom/banquet hall but it is geogeous! They have at most 3 weddings around the same time (min. 2). They say it's never a problem. They do not do a tasting which makes me hesitant. They wont give you prices over the phone bc they want to get you in there. Here is the info I got from them during my visit:

Ceremony Fees: 1/2 hour - $500
                           1 hour- $875
Deposit is $1000.

They have an East and West Ballroom. The West Ballroom has a larger dance floor but otherwise they are identical.

Sat. evening- 150 p min. 6pm-11pm or 7pm-12am
Oct. 2012-  $120 pp + 20% + 6.35%
Nov. 2012- $100 pp + 20% + 6.35%
Dec. 2012- $90 pp + 20% + 6.35%

Sun. (non-holiday)- 100 p min. Any 5 hours
Oct. 2012- $90 pp + 20% + 6.35%
Nov. 2012- $75 pp + 20% + 6.35%
Dec. 2012- $65 pp + 20% + 6.35%******** the lowest price they offer.

I didnt ask about Fri (I think they are the same price as Sun.) and I didnt ask about summer bc I knew it was out of our price range or 2013.

The Gerson Fox Room is amazing! It is NOT typical in anyway and much more affordable than the Society Room without loosing charm! What I love about it is that you can have your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in 3 different areas.
The ceremony takes place in the Atrium. The cocktail hour takes place in the Mezzaanine Lounge and the reception is in the Ballroom! They give you a complementary Honeymoon Suite. Their lowest price is $75 pp nad their highest price is $125 pp. There  is parking in a private garage for your guests. The deposit is $2500. The Marriott Residence Inn is connect to their facility. 1 wedding at a time.

We asked about Sun. in Nov. and Dec. which are $75 pp + 20% + 6.35%.

Hope this helps!

Re: Sharing price info for The Gershon Room, The Society Room & The Riverview

  • I am getting married at The Gershon Fox Room April 28, 2012. So far the experience has been amazing. Jessica responds to all my inquiries, has met with me three times already and is open to whatever request that I have. The tasting was amazing and both me and FI are excited about our wedding and having it at G. Fox. It truly is a one of a kind venue. I was torn between G Fox and The Society Room. I chose G. Fox for our wedding and Society Room is where my bridal shower is.
  • Keep in mind some of these places won't give info on the phone because things are negotiable. We are getting married at Riverview on a Sat night (this summer) and paying 85/pp. We are also having a relatively short engagement and only have about 6 months to plan. If these places aren't booked for the summer, they start making deals. However if you have your heart set on a particular date I wouldn't suggest this route, kind of risky but worked out for us!
  • We are getting married at the Riverview for 85/pp as well for a Saturday night in November. They only have 2 ballrooms (or one very large one) so not sure how they have 3 at one time and we were told 2 at most. I know many people who have been to events there and you really have no idea there is another event there b/c you have your own bar, bathroom, terrace, etc.
It is a ballroom/event space, but it does not feel like one. I didn't want a typical ballroom and we just loved the space and so far service has been excellent!

<div>Wow! $85 pp for a Sat. night in Nov.? That's funny how they quoted my FI and I $100 pp for a Sat. night in Nov. That makes me rethink having my wedding there and working with them. That seems fishy...but at least you were quoted the lower price! :)</div>

</div><div>It isn't fishy imo - Riverview is part of a bigger group which includes The Fox Hill Inn, The Candlewood Inn, and The Waterview.  Just like every other business, they have deadlines and quotas to meet.  We were able to get $85/pp instead of over $100 by booking in July instead of August.  My guess is it is about sales.  I have talked to multiple people who either went to a wedding at Riverview or have gotten married there - never a problem.  Def look around, but don't let this part worry you.

  • Thanks for this info, ladies.  It's a big help.  How many people does the Riverview room really hold for dinner and dancing? Are the portions for dinner adequate? Does anyone try to shoo you out early?  Really trying to decide between Riverview and Cincinnati Club Gold Room--two very different places, so it's tough, but we need to make a decision pronto!
  • riverview you do not get shooed out early you have your own room private bathrooms and bar. which is nice my brother had his reception there in november of last year at 75pp on a friday night. appz were plenty one table that had all the cold appz on it and one dish of the chefs choice for the hot app you get in the chafing dish everything else is passed buttler style.

drinks at the bar are on the large size dinner portions were good you got your meat mashed potatoes but the vegtable was more like a garnish it was a whole carrot

comes with a cake of your choice that you get to pick out and taste. my brothers cake was amazing.

the chicken coated with semi seeds are good for app as well as the potato pancakes and fried brie and raspberry.

i had the chicken dish and it was amazing stuffed with italian baccon and something else. the vegtable neopolian is also good my cousins wife is a vegetirian and she said it was amazing

my brother had about 120 guests in the room and it was more than enough room plus the dance floor was so big it held everyone. you get a separate area for cocktails and appz then hey move you to your tables for dinner , servers are fast and they brought my brother and his wife a fresh plate of food beacuse during dinner they did the speaches and staff wanted to make sure bride and groom had hot food. they take care of you
hope this helps answer any questions.
