  Decline your parents money and pay for the hall yourself.  Then get the photo booth.  Problem solved.

  Unfortunately it's mostly paid off and we don't have 20 grand for the hall

  Then you're kind of stuck... While I think photo booths are fun, they do kind of take away from the venue.  Is there a room at the venue that the photo booth can be tucked away so it's not such an eye sore?

  So why not ask if they'd be okay with it being in a separate area?  If they still say no, give up the fight.  This is NOT a hill worth dying on if they're paying for that much of your wedding.  He who pays has the say, after all...

  I don't see why you can't have it in a corner or something.  Why are they so picky on what you want at your wedding?  I know they are paying so they get a say, but really.
