Questions

I'm bored, I'm sick, so let's have a free-for-all! Here are some serious questions for your enjoyment. Feel free to throw down your own (and it's OK if they're not serious, this is just what Google spat out at me today, lol).

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?

When was the last time you tried something new?

What activities make you lose track of time?

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

What have you done that you are not proud of?

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?

Re: Questions

  • Today has been awful so far...this will be great distraction.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
This is an interesting questions lol...I have no idea.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
My torn up and dirty Georgia Tech Vineyard Vines purse : ( but I love it so much...it has been well used.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
    The Gospel

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
    Not wear a bra.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Neither really...sometimes we just really need to cry. I think apologizing is a sign of strength, like forgiveness. Apologizing could come off as weakness if you're apologizing for something that's not your fault but I view it as a sign of forgiveness which is strength.

When was the last time you tried something new?
This weekend! I made bread for the first time!

What activities make you lose track of time?
    Cleaning and organizing lol

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Haha I have no idea, I'm my worst critique so I could either hate this person or love them.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
Science- specifically Biology- even more specifically Genetics

What have you done that you are not proud of?
Lots of things...nothing that's appropriate for the internet though.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
    My last name bitches

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? Late 30s to early 40s. I look younger than my 24 years, but I act older (most of the time).

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will? Don't have one. I throw everything away, sometimes before I am really ready to let it go. I can't stand clutter.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be? Don't waste your time, especially while you're young. Pick a career path, any career path, based on what you know now, and decide if it's right for you later. But do something with your life other than indulge yourself - there are too many problems in the world to leave any excuse for not helping to solve them.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Honestly, I can't think of anything at the moment. I guess that's good!

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing? I don't view crying as a sign of weakness in others, but I do in myself. Hurray for double-standards. Apologizing is definitely a sign of strength in anybody, unless they are doing it just to save face and don't really mean it.

When was the last time you tried something new? Other than nursing school, it's been a minute. I will do something about that...over winter break, lol. I'm not sure what I'd like to try, though.

What activities make you lose track of time? Ha. That almost never happens to me. When it does, it usually involves reading or writing (I used to loooooove writing stupid little stories when I was younger). Baking sometimes does it to me too.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person? I am actively trying to be a better self-talker, so...I'd be friends with me longer than I would have one year ago. But it still probably wouldn't be a lifelong thing the way it is now. I can still be pretty negative.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach? I would loooooove teaching nursing assistant classes, I think that requires a good-humored and patient teacher. I also think that being like one of the lab instructors at my nursing school would be really fun and would make a difference (they do NOT earn enough money for what they do, though).

What have you done that you are not proud of? Speaking before I think, just in general. Procrastinating and not working hard enough at times. Any failings I've had in communicating in my relationship. Those make me feel especially bad, because I think I'm a pretty level-headed person in the rest of my life, but I often feel like BF gets the really emotional side of me that isn't always thinking with her head over her heart.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months? The way I spend my money. I don't have much of it while I'm in school, and I could make much better decisions that would allow me to save more with a little bit of planning.
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
I look younger than I am, and I act a lot younger than I am, so I'm going to say 25-28 years old?

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
I have a ton of containers that I just know I'm going to use to start seeds for a vegetable garden next year, but I doubt that's going to happen.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be? DON'T BE A DICK.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I think I would not think before speaking. I'm the type that I carefully construct my words before opening my mouth so I don't offend anyone.
Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Depends on what you're crying about. If you're crying that the neighbor next door hired a snow plow to plow out their driveway, that's weak (true story). Apologizing I think sometimes is used as a filler excuse to avoid being accountable (does that make sense?)

When was the last time you tried something new?
I tried new wines last month so yeah.

What activities make you lose track of time?
    Knitting, watching TV, drinking wine.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
    FOREVER

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    How to be awesome

What have you done that you are not proud of?
I slack off at work a lot, I"m not proud of that, but it's not like my work isn't done for the day.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
Get my ass to the gym.

  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

I've always been known as the "40 year old" (even when 14) so probably 40.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?

Old cards from birthdays, etc.  I'm too sentimental to throw them away if they came from H or my family.
If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?

I wish American culture was more European sometimes regarding time off, quality of life, healthcare, etc. so I think I'd like to get the message across that life isn't all about making money (and I wish I could learn that lesson better too).

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

I'd probably be a little more impulsive and put myself and my needs first.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?

I don't see crying or apolgizing as a sign of weakness so long as you aren't crying over something not worth crying over or apologizing just to end an argument but not really meaning it.  Basically, if you are doing either for the right reason, I think it is a sign of strength.  Otherwise, I think it can be a sign of weakness.

When was the last time you tried something new?

Yesterday...I made Tuna steak for the first time and H loved it.

What activities make you lose track of time?

Cooking, talking to friends with a bottle of wine.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?

Eeek, not very long.  I'm very self-critical.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

    Sociology...I loved it in college.

What have you done that you are not proud of?

Gaining weight in the last 6 months.  I feel gross and have been trying to get back on track.  I want to be sexy not just for my H but for me too (and I have this adorable dress I want to get back into).

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?

Finding a better balance at work/life before H and I TTC.
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
    I look younger than I am...so I'm going with 22.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
Pictures of my ex and I. We were together 12 years and have remained friends, just cant bring myself to do it.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
To do what makes YOU happy and not try to please everyone around you.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I would have a LOT more tattoos than I have now and I wouldnt worry about the placement of them.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Crying is strength and apologizing is definitely strength.

When was the last time you tried something new?
I tried a new beer last week...?

What activities make you lose track of time?
Everything. But definitely cleaning. And sex.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Forever. I dont speak to myself badly.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    Earth and Space Science

What have you done that you are not proud of?
a lot of things when I was a dumb, rebellious teenager.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
I need to get married, yo. lol, but seriously, I need to go back to school and get my Masters.

  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
No idea. I tend to come across as somewhat older than I am, but I think it has a lot to do with being embittered.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
Right now it's the footstool I got from my grandma when she passed away. It's breaking all to pieces, it was cheap, but I can't part with it yet.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
    Use your head.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I'd quit what I'm doing and be a stay-at-home girlfriend, then wife, then mom.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Depends on why you're crying or apologizing. I mean, if you're apologizing but you don't mean it, it's a sign of weakness. If you're crying but you're overreacting, it's a sign of weakness - but who decides what's overreacting?

When was the last time you tried something new?
I guess this summer, I learned Fair Isle knitting and that consumed a good share of my life.

What activities make you lose track of time?
    Knotting and knitting.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
We wouldn't have been friends in the first place. I'm really hard on myself.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
Private piano lessons. I'd still like to do that.

What have you done that you are not proud of?
I put on about 20 lbs after my grandma died 4 years ago and I still haven't taken it off. I quit cooking, I quit taking care of myself ... it was hard for me, everyone else in the family had someone to take care of them and no one realized I was alone because I was taking care of everyone else.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
I need to decide whether I'm getting the Ph.D. or not and I need to look for stable employment.
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? Well I look a lot younger than I am (I still get carded at R-Rated movies :/) but in terms of how old I feel I'd say like 26/27ish.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will? There are probably a good number of books I should get rid of (not throw away but give away) but books are the one thing I really hold onto.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be? Something about taking education seriously and valuing it beyond just going through the motions to get a job - this is probably reflective of how frustrated I am with my students!

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? I don't know, I tend to pretty comfortable with myself.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing? I think it depends on the circumstances. I guess I never really think of crying as a sign of strength but I don't always see it as a sign of weakness. As for apologizing it depends on if you should actually be apologizing. I tend to view it as a sign of weakness in people who are constantly apologizing for things they shouldn't be.

When was the last time you tried something new? Well the running stuff is new for me.

What activities make you lose track of time? Watching stuff on Netflix, reading, playing videogames - lots of stuff makes me lose track of time

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person? That's a hard question - most days I would say we'd be good friends but on my bad days not so much.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach? I would love to teach rhetoric class - history of rhetoric, rhetorical theory, rhetorical criticism. Right now I teach public speaking and I kind of hate that subject.

What have you done that you are not proud of? I'm not proud of the fact that I refer to one of my students as "the bitchy one" but I'm not going to stop.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months? Weight loss is my biggest goal for the next 12 months. My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week. I've also started training for a 5K and I'm really excited to do one in January!

  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

Probably about 25. I still look young enough to get carded, but I've seen too much of the world to look any younger ...

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?

This is a great question. Probably my senior prom dress. I don't like it at all, but I feel like I have to keep it.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?

Always make sure you have enthusiastic consent!

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

This is going to sound awful, but I'd wear sleeveless shirts, like, all of the time.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?

Crying isn't a sign of weakness or strength; it just is something that happens. However, apologizing is something that takes guts, and it takes smarts and self-awareness to do it right.

When was the last time you tried something new?

Tried a new kind of sushi on Saturday! It was mediocre.

What activities make you lose track of time?

    Solitaire!

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?

    Forever--my partner is like that.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

College level cell biology! (DREAM JOB!)

What have you done that you are not proud of?

I hooked up with my best guy friend multiple times even though I knew he didn't want to be in a relationship with me. When he wanted to date someone we were friends with, I was so upset that I couldn't be around him without getting sick (physically). I had to end the friendship, and I hate that this happened. He was up front about not wanting to date me, and I should have not hooked up with him.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?

I've got a few. I need to start getting up earlier, I need to keep the apartment cleaner, and I need to make that gym membership worth the money.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
    25

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
Vintage Eagles earrings that my mom gave me. Lucy somehow got ahold of them and chewed them up so they're not wearable but I can't bear to part with them.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
    Smoking (cigarettes) is gross.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
    No bra, baby!

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
I don't really see it as either. Sometimes you just need to let shit out. Sometimes you can't hold it in. Apologizing is a sign of strength. It's really hard to realize and understand that you were wrong and even harder to admit that to someone. At least for me it is.

When was the last time you tried something new?
Hmm I got my nose pierced about a month ago. Does that count?

What activities make you lose track of time?
Reading, drinking, hanging out with my favorite NEY ladies

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Hmm good question. This is something I should probably work on.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    Sociology

What have you done that you are not proud of?
On Saturday, I ate a Hershey's bar with 3 sheets of graham crackers at 10am.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
I desperately need to up my fitness level (shouldn't be THAT hard considering I'm at level 0 right now).

  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? Probably 28/29

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?  Old birthday/anniversary cards.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?  Treat others the way you would like to be treated...and being the loudest voice in the room doesn't make you right.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?  Never wear pants.
Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?  Neither.  Crying is an expression of emotion.  Self expression is never a sign of weakness.  Crying to get attention, however, is a sign of weakness.  Apologizing is a sign of strength and wisdom.

When was the last time you tried something new?  Uhm.  I moved to a new city after only having visited twice.  That's pretty new.

What activities make you lose track of time?  Knotting, knitting, napping, nomming, and sex.  And YouTube.  And television.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?  I would never be friends with that person.  I'm a BITCH to myself.  Everyone thinks I'm so harsh.  Truth is, I'm about 1000000000x WORSE to myself.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?  Makeup artistry, probably.

What have you done that you are not proud of?  Oh God.  So many things.  Quit a job 7 months ago without having another one lined up.  That one I'm really not proud of.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?  I need to get more acclimated to life in Chicago.  It can be a little lonely here with just me, DH, and my brother and his BF.  I also SERIOUSLY need to lose weight.  And I NEED to commit to it.  I WILL NOT buy bigger pants, and mine are getting tight.
  • @loves2shop4shoes - Getting used to a new city can be hard but, just think, in a few weeks you will have met (in person, that is) several Chicago ladies here!  :)  I know I'm looking forward to that!
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
Definitely 27 or 28. So tell me how to not know how old I am.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
My Raggedy Ann doll that has no clothes.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
#DearCongress - stop your personal fucking re-election campaigns for one second and govern the United States of America.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
    Swear more

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Crying to me is not a sign of weakness OR strength, it's a sign of high emotion. That emotion can be sadness, happiness, surprise, disappointment, etc. Apologizing when you're in the wrong is a sign of self-awareness. Apologizing to apologize is annoying as shit.

When was the last time you tried something new?
Yesterday I ordered fried chicken at a restaurant for the first time (not counting KFC, obvi).

What activities make you lose track of time?
Reading, watching tv, playing Candy Crush

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Depends on the day. Some days I'm gentle with myself. Other days I'm a first-class bitch.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    Snorkeling

What have you done that you are not proud of?
    Where do I start?

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
Not much, just continuing to eat healthy and exercise.

    Squee!
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
About 27 or at least upper 20s. I'm in a job fit for a person much older than I am.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
I have a very big attachment with shoes. Even when I know they're dead, I won't give them up easily.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
Grow up and face your responsibilities.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Probably take larger steps in my industry that people judge me right now for because I'm young.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
It's a sign of vulnerability but also of trust. You have to trust someone to cry around them. Apologizing depends on how it's said. It can go a lot of different ways.

When was the last time you tried something new?
This afternoon actually. I just got a completely new sandwich that I had never tried before.

What activities make you lose track of time?
Going on walks. I will always completely forget what time it is. That and shopping at the mall.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Probably an ok time. I'm a little weird, but fun.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    Horseback riding.

What have you done that you are not proud of?
Probably messing up on the job.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?
Move offices to southern CT. So either transfer in my company or find a new job.

  • I'm bored, I'm sick, so let's have a free-for-all! Here are some serious questions for your enjoyment. Feel free to throw down your own (and it's OK if they're not serious, this is just what Google spat out at me today, lol).

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?  Do you mean how old I look?  I'd say 17.  How old I feel?  20's.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?  My baby blanket.  I'm never going to use it or hand it down to my non-existent children, but I'm emotionally attached.  No, I don't sleep with it.  It's just in my closet.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?  Anti-animal testing stuff and provide them with information about what is going on and what they can do.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?  Not even the law?  I'd rob a bank.  Just kidding.  I guess I would eat more junk food.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?  I don't think it is a sign of either.  It is just a way of dealing with your feelings.  Apologizing requires strength to swallow your pride.

When was the last time you tried something new?  The other day I tried a different flavoured SunRype FruitSource bar.  It was mango, I think.

What activities make you lose track of time?  Being on The Knot, reading, and when I'm watching a good movie.

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?  I'm not sure.  Sometimes I can be hard on my self so, I give it a month before I'd have to re-think my new friendship.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?  Something animal related.  Maybe pet grooming.

What have you done that you are not proud of?  I went through a faze while I was in grade ten.  I'd prefer not to talk about it.

What is the biggest change you need to make in the next 12 months?  Money habits.  I need to save for the wedding.
    image
  • How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?
    25.  I always have to remind myself that I'm in my thirties.  Its usually after a night of playing like I haven't grown up.

What is one item you should throw away but probably never will?
My pom poms from my senior year competition.  It took 4 years of hard work to finally win state in 1997 (gulp, I'm old).  It created a long standing tradition in my home town and they have won almost every year since.  I'm proud to be part of that team and the tradition it created.  Its the one piece of high school I will never let go of.  We were more than a team.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would that message be?
    Work hard, play harder

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Make out with my husband anywhere and everywhere.

Is crying a sign of weakness or strength? What about apologizing?
Crying means you allow yourself to feel.  I don't think its a bad thing.   Apologizing shows you know how to take accountability for your wrongs.

When was the last time you tried something new?

What activities make you lose track of time?

If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way you speak to yourself, how long would you be friends with that person?
Probably, not long.  I need to work on my negativity. I want to raise children who think positively of themselves.
